Today in Black History: Abolitionist, clergyman and civil rights activist James Poindexter, died on Feb. 7, 1907. Born in Richmond in 1819, he was a major supporter of the Underground Railroad in Ohio. He personally supplied wagons and horses to help fugitive slaves on their journey to Canada.
