Small business support is the key even if in the short term we pay more. Everything that’s a bargain today isn’t a bargain tomorrow or next week or next month!!
Literally all the sick fucks and their kinks are at the end of the day, a love of the almighty dollar. They will do anything, say anything, sell out their own souls for money, money, money. Money and losing it are where we hit them. Withdrawal of our financial support to this fucking debauchery.
The point is don’t patronize those who freeload off of artists’ stolen work. Buy a poster made by an artist. Sorry if I wasn’t clear, I was trying to be polite and allow you to come to that conclusion yourself.
I wonder what would happen if we all got in our cars and went to the drive thru of food places complacent with the capitalists without a conscience oligarchs and just drove thru - not ordering anything ????
I bought a car in early January. That's the only big thing I am buying. Just groceries and necessities. And everything I can at Democrat supporters....like Macy's, Wawa, etc. Follow Goods Unite Us
That seems about right. I feel like the only way a lot of these folks are going to understand things are not going in the right direction is it the market crashes and it actually starts to affect them. No one wants that, but otherwise it just seems won’t care until they feel some pain also.
It’s not enough. The oligarchs are stealing directly from the treasury. They have our money. Shutting down the economy will take millions not showing up to work for a week.
META I like to quite. But that only line to People First Nebraska. And since I am a board member. I will tried to vote to all members to not used Facebook. And go elsewhere. But I can promise you it will work. And it be in May 3rd. If I remembered right. A long time from now.
We're paying the same amount in taxes while they eliminate thousands of federal jobs and whole departments. We should get a tax cut but the $ is probably going into Elon & FOTUS's bank accounts.
I agree with the specification on the businesses because it should exclude small businesses who cannot sustain lack of sales for that long. Even a day could be make or break for them.
A single day does nothing. We must commit to a 6 month or longer boycott of Amazon, Target, Walmart, Facebook, Insta, Whatsapp, Snap, TikTok, Google, credit cards, chain restaurants, and any other corporations that support this regime.
Later, sure, but most people are not in the position to do that right now and it’s a hard sell. Most people have never participated in an action. Let’s start with one day and watch the movement grow
Indeed. A single day boycott does absolutely nothing to a corporate class that can literally wait out life times of boycotts and still live a better life than all of us.
I understand that Waze is better. However, as an American, we need to start moving away from convenience. We need to find things that aren’t gonna connect us to large corporations that are sucking us dry. So sorry that it’s not great but other options exist.
I've belonged with a union credit union for 50+years. When I die there's a nice payout for my funeral & and some cash for my survivors. What's not to like? They never lie, never reneg, solid investment.
Indefinite boycotts are what's needed. These corporations are ultimately plutocratic structures that seek the highest profit margin. Support local economies so they're no longer reliant on externally owned wealth extractors. Support democratically structured businesses (cooperatives).
This is the way. Not everyone needs to be a hardcore activist. Small actions add up.
I’ve been calling for monthly strikes of no work, no economic activity, no streaming, no telly. Anyone participating in any of these things can help make the difference.
I've started what I call Resistance Wednesdays. I will buy absolutely nothing, not even groceries. The only businesses I will support on Wednesdays are one of the local restaurants or coffee shops that I know are owned and run by Democrats. If millions would do the same, the impact would be felt.
I think you are right about this. Whatever we're doing - boycotts, protests, calling reps, etc, it needs to be a sustained effort over many months/years.

Godammit! I planned a trip to another state that day.
Fuck.
I'm sorry.
It is a huge b-day trip. I'll do my best not to spend any money.
But I am going to tip the fuck out of any server.
I'm trying.
Just make sure to not eat at fast food places. Eat only local family businesses. Once you get home continue boycotting walmart, target, amazon. Cancel subscriptions. You don’t have to suffer. Resale shops have tons of used DVDs. Most record stores are awesome local businesses! Support local!
There is a grassroots citizen led movement in 🇨🇦 to buy 🇨🇦 and boycott 🇺🇲. Media said that it would not make a difference and yet somehow it seems to be looking at the reaction from 🇺🇲 businesses. One person is a drop in the bucket, as it grows it becomes a flood.
It’s true. Grocery shopping yesterday the whole isle was full of Canadians reading cans, bottles and packaging making sure to buy Canadian first, Mexico second and any thing but US third. We are united in our anger at the betrayal, gall and audacity of our neighbours President.
I would seriously love more Mexican produce. All of South America really. It is a real opportunity for importers right now in Canada to take advantage of this opportunity. Hopefully they are taking notice and working hard to diversify trade.
They do understand lies and power of dividing people. They understand power especially if they can abuse it. They seem to focus their rage on any thing of beauty: Nature, the Rose Garden, Pres. Zalensky, patriots who stand up to them. That's why we reject them.
Unless you are in the top 10% wealthiest Trump, and his administration, could give a flying-fuck about you. In fact, when automation replaces everyone, they won't care if you die from something preventable. They will likely encourage us to hurry up and die. #EatTheRich
I'm not there. But it was pretty weird how everyone was saying they were going to skip the Superbowl, and yet those same people were talking about the game. That felt like a letdown to me, and that's why the sarcastic remark.
Wait til The Four Tech Horsemen of the Apocalypse get their AI into your life & so far up your ass, all you’ll be able to do on your own is use the bathroom. And maybe not even that.
Personally, I’m not into 4 billionaire tech bros bilking then taking over government and our everyday life.
I agree. Though I'm making an exception for small businesses such as artists and artisans (I'm biaised as I am one). I also think there are some others that it's still good to my from, i.e. local farm shops. This is also what I now do at Christmas. #resist #shopindie
Reduce if possible buying from stores first consider to reuse, recycle, and buy locally from local farmers, help in reducing waste meantime no need to buy from big stores.
It's too bad big stores (except for Costco) have folded to MAGA agenda. The same ones who've been hurt by Amazon are now aligning themselves w Besos and the other oligarchs. Too bad for them
It's about time that people start to realize that a 30 to 50% market correction is worth a lot more to these billionaires then saving 5% or 10% on their income taxes. Trust me most of these guys money is wealth tied up in their company stock. Not cash.
I disagree. A blanket boycott is not going to work. It has to be specifically targeted towards the perpetrators without treating the honest brokers as collateral damage.
You can financially boycott everyday... By buying from your local mom and pops and using cash. Even if that means $10 toilet paper at your corner store. Suck it up and save whole communities. Shop local and use cash.
Exactly. We must make a
Sacrifice to support our fellow Americans who are hurting. Let’s create a bartering system: those who can afford to buy in bulk and share with others, let’s do that. I still have boxes of toilet paper I bought during Covid! 5 years later. We can do this if we ban together!!
"Mom and pop" places are some of the worst offenders of labor rights in my experience.
A bigger company might have a DEI department or initiative, or pay a higher wage, while "m & p" want minium wage & folk doing jobs of three different people at once. Give less benefits, steal wages etc.
I’ve also had negative experiences working for LLCs and so have my family members. Accusing every person who disagrees with you of being a bot doesn’t help you look better—just fyi
Perhaps not a bot, but someone who's not had enough life and work experience to find out that there is only one way a small business would steal and break the law, they have family in government/power spots.
Be in touch with the locals & support those that don't cut corners. Sadly, the average American wants cheap prices which makes sure someone in the supply chain is not getting paid well. Govt also keeps min wage too low. Any business large/small should support their employees if the income allows it.
Like the Dollar General Store who pays cheap labor , works them as hard as they can , won’t even give them a bottle of water , no Xmas party and cuts the hours as low as they can !
I’ve not found any company large or small rushing to pay well and offer any kind of incentive, especially entry and lower levels. We have minimum wage here and still my son has to turn down offers £5 below it! (Which also means no leave, no set hours or sick pay or insurance.
I find it intriguing how a FEDERAL INSISTANCE for DEI is placed in every business, small, medium, or large, but you assume the 'mom & pop' are free from such requirements. This was brought about to ensure highly qualified people would not be dismissed due to schooling, background, or appearance.
What requirement are you talking about? I'm talking about big businesses taking it up on their own iniative as a means to be more competitive & foster morale. Small businesses tend to not be run by people with the ability to scale up coz all they care about is short sightedly getting cheapest labor.
You can't just tell people living on fixed incomes, or paycheck-to-paycheck to "suck it up" and purchase more expensive items when cheaper alternatives are available. I get what you're trying say, and for those who are able, yes please do this. However it's just not feasible for many people.
You're 100%
So for those of us who can afford to spend a little more, we will. Let's not guilt the folks already struggling . Everyone can resist in different ways
We are in this together!
Resist
By local
Don't but Corp America
Boycott Amazon
You’re absolutely right. But this is where those who have the means can start helping our neighbors in need. If you don’t have it and I do, let’s share.
That’s exactly what they’re going to get one way or another though, because that’s the plan. There’s no avoiding what’s coming down the pipeline unless we all take some kind of action now.
I get this, I wasn’t responding Mr. King’s post. I actually agree with what he posted, and I think we should go farther. I was responding to someone else’s comment on that post.
Please don’t misconstrue this as me misunderstanding or disagreeing with the intent of the original post.
Seems presumptuous and a bit cruel to say "suck it up" with so many people out there scraping together pennies to get the $2 toilet paper to hold the over until payday. If you feel so strongly about it, maybe offer to sponsor their $10 toilet paper instead of telling them to buy it instead of food.
Everyday Is boycott day to all big corporations been doing it for years and start walking or ride a bike I have not had a car in 42 years energy consumption and consumerism is destroying the air water and land.
Also if possible maybe consider taking your vacation $$$ to blue states or even Canada (perfect thumb in eye to tRump) rather than spending in red states.
I’ve lived in Texas 54 years, and it used to be a nice and especially affordable place to live, but now I’m ashamed to say I’m from Texas, especially when traveling overseas.
While I understand the concept, I live in New Orleans, a very blue dot in a very red state. The economy relies on tourism, and the folks who vote blue are the ones you are hurting with this choice.
I cannot commend this.
But, your life.
Yes to every word. Also, if you just buy the same stuff but on a different day, that's not resistance. That's pointless. It you replace/do without/actually don't buy the stuff at all, now maybe you've made a point.
Like, if no one buys gas on a certain day to "show" big oil (or whatever) but buys the same amount of gas anyway, who cares? Take public transit, ride a bike, carpool, *literally actually use less gas and thus purchase less* = impact (again: maybe).
I agree...
But the visual of empty stores would be something...
(We're not France, so making it actually happen? Unlikely)
Otoh, as a former retail worker, I know that workers would have hours cut, so I know who it really hurts.
There's that also: mostly, it's just regular folks, already struggling, who will feel a day of empty store. The corporations...I'm not sure the potential impact of the visual outweighs the costs to workers, locals, etc..
International travel is already down significantly. Domestic is down too. We may already be seeing the effects of this kind of thinking. Starving out the few blue supporters in this red state. When they leave all we are left with is more red.
My flight from Houston to Amsterdam had 160 empty seats according to flight attendant. Flight from Amsterdam to Madrid was full. I was traveling to visit family.
I’ve been vacationing in Canada since childhood and last year visited the Bay of Fundy and Montreal for the first time with my family. Absolutely stunning I highly recommend 👍
Go farther. Move your money to other countries as well. There are banks in the UK that will earn not just higher interest rates, but as Trump causes the US dollar to lower in value, your money will be safe elsewhere instead. Each time the dollars lowers, your savings goes down too.
Just find an international bank that is in another country. The UK would be the best bet to find a good one with interest. Just make sure there are no international transfer fees that would cost you to use it in the US.
Hey, I just tried to apply for an international acct through Lloyds but they stated that they couldn’t approve me based on where I was applying from. If it’s not TMI, mind sharing where you bank? You could DM if you’d like.
I already went lol. Last month, for my birthday. I booked it a year in advance. I had fun. Also, Idk about them being a trump ally, considering all of the foolishness but ok
Be very careful in Mexico. Right now they are very angry with Americans and I highly suggest going to an island in the Caribbean over Mexico right now.
I appreciate the sentiment but there are a lot of us in red states who don’t support Trump. And a lot of folks who depend on service jobs in tourism especially here in Florida. I understand wanting to take action. And also it can hurt people unintentionally.
You make a good point. It’s one way I feel I can #resist My $$$ and my choice where/how to spend them. I live in a red state as well and I already have to spend $$$ here on necessities like rent, utilities, food and gasoline. That’s all the red state spending I want to do. 🤷♀️
I grew up near there! Have you ever heard of AuSable Canyon? It’s in upstate New York. You can float in a tube down the River that flows in the center of the canyon! It’s very close to Lake Champlain, too, and Burlington, Vermont is just a ferry ride away.
I’ve been to 36 countries & found that there are nice people everywhere. People give what they get. The rude thing is to assume an entire region is full of assholes too stupid to understand the difference between a citizen & their government.
The thing is lots of you americans are all over social media being giant assholes then 52% of americans vote for an even bigger asshole along with the horror stories of americans visiting other countries. You americans do it to yourselves.
Btw, what assumption, that americans are rude & they make assumptions? And you said that while being rude & making assumptions about what I say & meant. So....
That's not what my comment is about at all. I'm hinting at the trade war between Canada and the usa and Trump's tariffs on Canada & cuz of that Canadians may not be nice to americans anymore when americans visit Canada.
I go to Quebec every year and find it one of the friendliest places. Better cycle touring infrastructure than anywhere else in Canada or the U.S.A., decent skiing, lots of culture.
We’ll not be coming to the states for the next 4 years. We did the same last time he was in power. A small gesture but if everyone makes small gestures, then they add up.
Just like I won't travel to Russia, I don't go or spend my money in red states. I feel bad that there are also Democrats in red states, but no solution is perfect.
I live in a red state and I’ll only be spending money here on necessities. No longer shopping at Target and Walmart. It’s one of the few things I feel I can do to #resist
We need to get ourselves (seriously! Not gas, Starbucks, a snack at the gift-shop, NOTHING), and our friends, family, co workers, neighbors, on board as much as possible. I’m asking those people passionately and respectfully to please! help us and participate, stressing it’s only ONE day.
Sadly not buying anything might be easy because so many of us can’t afford to buy anything. :-( These idiots are drowning the ones paying taxes for the ‘dicks’ tax breaks.
Really , this started under Biden ! Trumps trying to help but ignorant democrats are mad cause they didn’t win so they think court cases will reelect them ! Wrong !
Are you aware tht we are not a democracy? Do you understand why it’s only t Dems & their regimemedia who repeatedly use tht 1 word 24/7 for 14 of t past 19 yrs? You sound smart enough to see through their con&scam. Though only relying on Dems regimemedia will make it impossible to know facts&truth!
Sole proprietors like myself are trying to hold back the prices as much as possible, choosing not to price gouge. Yes, as supply prices go up we will have to raise prices, but the difference between what I am seeing from the corporations and what I have to do to pay my expenses is at least 2x more
It’s a ridiculous desperate grab for more that is completely unnecessary and immoral. Many small businesses understand and are in the same boat as their customers. Holding the line as best we can.
I wish we would change this narrative. You don’t have to stop buying completely; be mindful with purchasing power. Boycott the corporations, but boost sales for sole proprietors, artists, small local businesses and those who are actively working for a better world.
T exorbitant inflation, ever increasing prices in a failed econ. had been over t past 4 yrs under OBidenSoros+10staff in WHOO in past Dem WHadmin. It didn’t magically start Jan20,2025 which regime trying 2 claim(POTUS47 fault which is absurd lie)bc regime thinks #AmPPL too
stupid 2 know facts&truth!
That is ridiculous. If you voted for Dems, you voted for that policy,ie. “to stretch you to the max”& they most definitely do understand that. It’s why they did it. It was deliberate. The sooner you realize that reality the sooner you will come back to it.
Name one conservative president who didn’t cause inflation. The main cause of inflation is government covid checks and 0% rates. They were started by Trump and continued by Biden. The amount of money increased and that caused price spikes.
The kickoff to boycott big box stores, and fast food chains. Buy local after the 28th. Cancel subscriptions, move you money to a credit union, or regional bank.
Didn’t know about that. I still need my Adobe and Zoom subscriptions, otherwise I would. (Might drop Zoom soon, as new computer on the way will be OBS compatible)
I wish we would change this narrative. You don’t have to stop buying completely; be mindful with purchasing power. Boycott the corporations, but boost sales for sole proprietors, artists, small local businesses and those who are actively working for a better world.
Thank you. I would like to think that my job is too important to be axed, but then I believe everyone feels that way about their job. People don't like being laid off or fired. Not in the private sector, not in government.
So sorry, I am so against this, and it would be by 'private citizen Musk'. I wish someone would fire Musk. He thinks he can direct the hand of the president and perhaps Trump is too stupid to even realise when it's being done. Something besides Musk's $245M has persuaded MrT that Musk is essential.
I'll let the VA social worker I know with 2 dozen semi-suicidal veterans with varying degrees of PTSD she has been counseling know that she wasn't supposed to be fired on Friday. I recommend deleting your post since it is demonstrably false.
But the original post was about the poster's job possibly being cut.
Then when asked if their job is essential, they mentioned someone else's job.
I'm still waiting with bated breath to hear about the poster's job.
I’m hoping that class-action lawsuit by Democracy Defenders supporting all fed workers will be successful. Thinking alit about our federal workers, and how unfair all of this is to you.
Amen Mark! Stop ALL discretionary spending now for as long as it takes! The Dow is the only thing that moves Trump/GOP. 2/3 of all US economic activity is consumer spending. Gives blue states an equal voice. Can’t fire/arrest/dox you for not spending. Wartime rationing to save democracy. All in now!
I haven’t purchased anything since December. I am canceling my amazon account. I deleted fb and all other social media except for this one. I’m got to have my actions match my beliefs. It’s time we put values above convenience.
This is why I created the #zamazon movement (so far it’s just me lol). Bezos picked the name Amazon partly bc it starts with A (if it was in an alphabetized list). I know it’s hard to cut the cord so I’m trying to get people to simply shop Amazon as a last resort.
Sadly for us it's Walmart or Amazon. Have to have delivery. At least with Walmart I can tip a person who probably needs it. We can't afford anything not a necessity so at least it's not much $.
I deleted Facebook in 2020 when they participated in the stealing of the election from president Trump. Haven't been back since. My concern was the compromise of our free speech and allowing censorship based on politics. Dangerous no matter who's in charge.
This is what I did last week and I've honestly been happier than I ever have been. Even getting the news on here is better than in a sea of bots and trolls just trying to get a reaction out of me. And I'm going into full "buy in bulk from Costco"/"If I can't make it myself, look for it used." mode
I’m not questioning about the fake account, but I question how does that happen? I have friends that say the same thing. How did you find out there was a fake account?
Ooo that's actually smart if the manufacturer has a website to sell from. Items on Amazon are often knockoffs anyway. Bought an Atlas grinder for my dad some time ago and the one on Amazon was def a fake and glad I didn't bite. For only $10 less he could have ground metal shards in our food.
Oh weird! I don’t remember there being a waiting period. 2 days at most if any at the time. There is a 30 day “processing” period for deleting my Facebook and Instagram account tho. Stick with it!!
I did much the same. All my Meta accounts are deleted, my Twitter account is deleted. Even TikTok. I went over to Xiaohongahu and love it there so much I’m not going back to TikTok. I also got rid of several subscription services, am trying hard to shop local/small biz, and am doing a huge garden.
I can tell you don’t watch boring economists. People have been withdrawing economically already. Amazon posted lower profits than expected for January. China is seeing a huge downturn. Housing stocks are rising because people are no longer planning for a future. The signs are everywhere
Yeah Amazon profits went down and so did author pay too. Please support small businesses like indie authors on Amazon. We will suffer if we’re lumped in with nazi Bezos 😢
I am in 🇨🇦 and have reduced my Amazon orders by about 75%. Still buying books and there are 🇨🇦 small companies that sell their products on Amazon. I want to support indie books and 🇨🇦 products so I have kept my Amazon. Perfect time for a new company to emerge to fill the gap that Amazon has created.
Thanks. I'll go check some out for books. Still going to buy Canadian products on Amazon because for many small businesses in Canada that is where their products are sold. I support 🇨🇦 and Canadian businesses. Amazon until there is another option.
True. Lots of discount book stores as well. I love getting a book all marked up and dog-eared. Makes me think of the stories of the people who read it before me.
My books aren’t on independent bookstores and so are thousands of other authors’ books. Please don’t generalize because that hurts us small businesses.
Yeah Amazon profits went down and so did author pay too. Please support small businesses like indie authors on Amazon. We will suffer if we’re lumped in with nazi Bezos 😢
I think we are starting simple and building on it. Lots of us are fully boycotting Chase, Amazon, Walmart, Home Depot, and now Target. But for the wider plan, this is what I’ve seen:
But for lots of people the shorter boycott is an awesome first step to see that it’s easier than one might think… (excluding people way out in the country who done live near shops. But that is not most of us).
Me too! Since early December, not as hard as I thought it would be. I was relying on Target but they’re now dead to me. I just plan for longer shipping times or just not buying things.
In recent times, there was no Amazon or Target. We do not need them.
What if we stop consuming almost everything? We only NEED food, gas, and shelter. Everything else can be acquired in other ways. Thrift, swap, borrow, repair, steal (from corporations), do without. We need to change our mindset. It’ll save us and our planet.
Already doing that. #MakeDoAndMend Also, use it up, wear it out, make do or do without. Being a vintage enthusiast has been incredibly helpful for me during hard times. These things will serve me well now. I have many antique and vibtage books with so much great helpful (and now relevant) info!
I’ve been getting into sashiko mending. I’ve been repairing and altering my clothing since high school (4 decades). I’m excited for the challenge to re-purposing my current wardrobe and only adding thrifted clothing. I like to gamify my life.
Ooh yes sashiko mending is so cool. My husband really likes the way it looks! My mom taught me how to sew when I was little, I used to make more of my own clothes but after I had kids I only ever altered, but now that I'm old I have the time to get back into it! I'm excited, it's been too long!
Start growing your own food too. Make sure you don't have to travel far and use a bike. Most cities everything you possibly could need is within a few miles of where you live. Growing your own food too is healthier than eating the sludge food that Trump created when he rolled back regulations.
RFK JR. is proposing work camps for people on ADHD meds and SSRIs...sounds like they have plans to replace the migrant workers they scared off and shipped off.
I mentioned this in an earlier post. The step after that is, if you can’t work, then you are a useless person, useless people shouldn’t exist, therefore they should die. Curtis Yarvin called us Human Bio Fuel.
Vance is a big Yarvin fan. The sheeple haven't woken up yet to realize that SSA, Veterans benefits, Medicare, Medicaid, SNAP, etc. are getting cut and will be cut because the people in charge right now don't care if they die.
This is like asking a Zombie not to eat a Human.
Ain’t gonna happen.
This is like asking a Bear not to shit in the woods and get in your garbage.
Ain’t gonna happen.
With all due respect, some folks are homebound and need delivery services.
You ask the Impossible, my Hero.
But agree in principle!
???? You do understand that the majority voted for this asshole. So we don't spend on the 28th so they go out and spend on the 28th WTF does that accomplish. If this is all we got it's going to be a long long time before we see this end. I'm sorry just so frustrating to watch.
Did he win the electoral ? Did he get MORE votes then Harris? Those are the only numbers i see. Everything else is people talking. I dont have answers . Maybe we need a 50yr plan like they did.
I really hope we can pull through on this day. What I would really love to see is if we can totally fuck Amazon on Prime Days. I hope everyone knows that those deals are not even real. They jack the prices up before prime days so they can lower them back to regular price as a sale.
I had some good karma. I canceled my vitamin subscriptions last week from Amazon and an online friend offered me an ongoing 35% off through his affiliate site for the same vitamins!
For those saying you need more than one day- How about we start with one day. Gain some momentum. There are schedules already set up to hit up specific corps in the months to come. But let's prove we can come together. Partake in the day!
I can understand. That wasn't my point. It will show people we CAN come together. And then we can do it again. And again. I wouldn't want to discourage anyone for not trying at all because it won't make a difference. Start with a day. Just like a brand new diet or exercise routine.
Review Nazi history; on 2/28/33, they passed a law that suspended fundamental rights like freedom of speech, assembly, and the press, allowing for arbitrary arrests and detention. Essentially the day Nazi Germany was born. Trump is a great fan of his.
I started January 21st. I reduced my Amazon shopping by 75%. I got off of Facebook & X,and joined blue sky instead. Eat meals from home five days of the week. Reduce all apple products by half. (No apple tv,no Apple Music and etc) . It’s pretty easy to do.
Sadly, I don’t think one day is going to do it. Those chodes are sitting too high on their mountains of dirty money to notice what a small break in commerce will do to our economy… or theirs.
Right. The problem is the big stores that crush competition. These are owned by oligarchs too. We need to just make it a habit to shop locally. It's better for the local economy and our neighbors.
Yep....they sure did. I fail to see how boomers are going to love this situation to death. They don't seem to want to understand that it's not going to work anymore. Trying to be besties with the opposition at this point means we deserve these clowns too.
Oh please, stop blaming groups. That's no different than blaming Blacks, Latinos, Asians, Jews, Gays, etc. People are unique individuals. Categories are irrelavent.
No it was dumb women too. They seem to really think that they should lead women to want to have babies no one can afford. I said no to that lifestyle many years ago. Two kids was enough....now in my 40s paranoid docs won't stop acting like I should have more. Nope overrated experience....
True, but white women weren’t far behind. Men, we can understand - as a man I can attest, most of us are dumb shits. But what happened to the abortion issue that was supposed to insure a female tsunami and a Harris victory? Really hard to understand.
I really do wish we’d stop this white/latino men angle. As much as I’d rather not be that guy there are real issues they have that Trump and the right wing identify at the very least. Talking about them like they’re a scourge instead of addressing their problems is kind of part of the problem here.
Can you identify those issues? Unfortunately many of them are rooted in superiority and fear of losing that privilege. I’m a white 56 year old. I get it.
Harris/Walz voter here too. I voted for Bob Dole in my first Prez election because I did not like Bill Clinton. 😂 I did vote, begrudgingly, for Hillary Clinton though...I wanted Sanders and Sanders would have SMASHED tRump in 2016.
I read plenty where the same people blame my generation....fair is fair. I have zero in common with my parents generation. They treat the govt like a damn vampires den and everyone knows it. They are still in power now.... 😆 It's a fact.
How do I think? You went there ...I am so tired of morons trying to tell me how I think. You don't know me. I have boomers for parents. I know enough about them.
Ukraine is a stalemate. The continued US support will only result in more Ukrainian men getting killed.
They have already sacrificed most of a generation of men. Ukraine will not be able to repopulate if this keeps up.
You know...calling your retirement fund manager and directing them to sell TSLA stock from your fund is maybe more effective. Find the pain points people!
Stephen King. The man of horror. I used to enjoy your books but since you went woke, I’m no longer reading them. Such a waste of talent. So sad. We The People voted for this and we are enjoying every minute of it. #resit all you want. Your cries are falling on deaf ears. #MAGA
I’m scared for those kids! I hope there aren’t girls around a guy who voted for a predator that is in a documentary saying “I like them young,” to Jeffrey Epstein on a documentary. You voted for a civilly convicted rapist. That makes you dangerous to little girls. Enjoy your W!
It’s called “filthy rich.” I have also included a ss of others so you can choose your media type.
These guys are going to kill women. Four women with miscarriages were turned down for care over the last four weeks? One almost died. She is a wife and a mom. Thank you for listening ✌🏼
You seem to be in the minority here. And if the "majority" voted for that then America has a sickness of values. Go salute like Elon and see if you keep your job. #classwar #oligarchoverrulers
I know I’m in the minority here. What if it? And we have had oligarch overlords for a
long time in this country. Have you ever read The Creature from Jekyll Island? It’s an interesting read about the formation of the Federal Reserve. Talk about oligarchs!
Are you just bored? Is something missing from your life that being on X with your fellow cultists isn’t enough for you? Are you so small that you need to come here and troll to FEEL SOMETHING?
No, I just come over here annoy the living hell out of people like you. Liberal tears for my coffee. Talk about being in a cult, have you looked in the mirror lately?
You know. . . Perhaps if you had spent more of your life reading quality literature and nonfiction books you would understand that diversity of thought and experience is a good thing. Perhaps you would have the ability to empathize and understand others.
I do spend time reading "quality books', not just fiction and I consider that I have a diversity of thought. I grew up as a "Kennedy Democrat" in the 70's. But as I aged and gained more life experience, got to meet people who were successful in life, my viewpoints changed. But today's party is lost
Cutting the debt is important, but it takes more than just yelling “unsustainable!”—it means making tough choices about taxes, spending, and priorities. Got specific ideas? Let’s hear them.
I don’t mind having meaningful conversations regarding the state of our country. It’s the only way to fix the problems. Resorting to name calling and threats (which I get a lot of here) solves nothing. You seem more open to viewing other’s viewpoints, which is admirable.
On that we can definitely agree (meaningful conversations= more opportunities for us to understand each other). I think it’s important to not dehumanize each other and understand that they want us at each other’s throats. We need to organize and remind every person in DC that they work for US.
I’m not sure if this site is super reputable. It’s registered to a person in Armenia using a hotmail account. But I did check the doge website and allegedly there are receipts for savings coming over the weekend. Allegedly. I’m very much a believe it when I see it kind of gal (and the metadata too).
Ok. I’d start with “foreign aide” not saying that it’s all bad but we need to take care of own first. In the future when we implement new programs (as we should) there has to be accountability built into it. You get “X” amount of aide and we want to see exactly how that money was used. Our money
On that we can agree on taking care of our own. We should be doing more to fund our children’s education, making healthcare more accessible and affordable, and caring for our veterans. There’s also a mental health crisis in this country that people in power refuse to address in the proper way.
You realize that a $36,000,000,000,000.00 (thirty-six trillion) deficit is unsustainable? That if you spent $1,000.00 a minute, it would take you 68,493 YEARS to spend that kind of money? There has to be an accounting of the money. Where does it all go?? Questions that we want answered.
You’re mixing up national debt and budget deficit here. The national debt is close to $34.5 trillion, while the deficit (the annual shortfall) was $1.7 trillion in 2023. Big difference.
And government spending isn’t just disappearing—it’s publicly tracked. Literally downloading the latest data now.
I will agree that the captains of industry are a bunch of pirates and bums but they also get shit done. As to Musk, what is wrong with finding waste in Government? Are you ok with a 36 TRILLION $ deficit? It's YOUR money. WTF?? I work to hard for mine to see it wasted, so yes, I am OK with him.
And about Musk and “captains of industry”—many of them benefit from government contracts, subsidies, and tax breaks. SpaceX, Tesla, and plenty of others wouldn’t be where they are without taxpayer money. So if we’re talking waste, corporate welfare deserves just as much scrutiny if not more.
Don't buy stuff on ANY day that you don't absolutely have to have. Hitting the pocket of these millionaires is all we've got without bloodshed. Shut it down. Not just for a day either. Shut it down until Trump is removed.
You should not call them millionaires- sounds too positive. Call them what they are: e.g. I call them oligarchs (this is at least for now my „kindest“ description).
Right. It will inconvenience your local merchants. Make it up to them on March 1. The point is to show that the people CAN coordinate actions. They need to understand that the public is not a mass of pliable, uncoordinated random atoms that can be shoved to and from as the dictator desires.
I’m not sure this is being “told.” A political action usually involves more than one person, and there is a call to people to participate. If you willingly participate in a cause you understand and support, is that really doing as you’re told?
Fascists do everything they can to break the will of any #resistance. Don’t ever believe their false promises. They are evil and those who are evil always spew lies. This will be a long hard fight, so don’t ever give up. This is about America and the future. It’s deadly serious that we survive.
This is American destiny: ALL humanity's great evils come here: poverty, racism, sexism, antisemitism, and fascism. They come here, are fought against, and in the end will be defeated. Life is never peaceful here. We are all in the long, long fight for human decency and liberty, and win it.
He was sympathetic to everything that made life in America a struggle.Europe was full of struggle too. But Europe was a significant place that had abolished slavery, and America wasn't, so he preferred Europe. But he foresaw a time when the American struggle would make it a world power.
I’m only supporting local businesses right now but won’t buy anything on the 28th. I know it’s hard but we all really need to stop using Amazon. I deleted my account and deleted the app on my phone.
While I appreciate the sentiment, a day without sales for a small business could be devastating. Literally the difference between making rent and not making rent for the following month.
One political side is pushing for socialized healthcare, eliminating student debt, and taxes on the 1% while the other side is... tougher on immigration? pro gun? Anti trans?
Looking forward to the incoming recession and watching Republicans SPRINT to save the corporations and banks that own them
I can guarantee not enough people care about this to stop shopping at major retailers across the US on the 28th. I bet less than .0000001% of the population will actually do it.
That photo is nauseating on so many levels. That would have been a perfect opportunity for a meteor to crash through the roof and eliminate a lot of shitty people..
Thankfully, America isn't as religious as it once was which has allowed us to become more progressive socially. I think that will save us from the fate that befell Iran - at least in blue states.
States rights is a real possibility. If blue states can devise ways to shield their citizens from federal tax then they have the financial power to duplicate things that the feds are destroying. Just a brain fart I’ve been having.
I wouldn’t be too sure about that. Project 2025 is the plan the Heritage Foundation (Vance, ultra conservative Russell Vought) bought & its in the process of being rolled out. Blue states need to fight to stay blue, but if it’s at a Fed level…
Matthew 18:20, which states, "For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them." This verse emphasizes the presence of Jesus among those who come together in His name.
I stopped buying anything except food! I refuse to spend money on anything other than books. I don’t watch TV. I don’t go to the movies. We stopped eating out. So I need some entertainment!
Most libraries these days also give you free access to movie and tv streaming services like Hoopla and Kanopy. My library allows people to sign up for ecards online, so you don’t even have to physically go to the library to access these services.
why don't you go to your local library? Best thing you could do! I read more than 100 books a yr and rarely do I buy one. You can reserve books as well as take your chances on new ones coming out at most county libraries
Yes, but authors need those of us who can, to buy books. I can afford to buy 200 books a year and I do! I then put books into FREE little libraries if the book won’t be re-read by me. I am disabled, but my husband works. I am not on gov. subsidy. A resource that many others need! I support this!!!
That is a kind of comment someone will always has to pop up and say. Artists are usually rich and if they aren't I don't feel the odd film or track streamed via KODI will do any damage.
Great idea! You can also do this: Tell your reps in DC what you think. Resist. It only takes a few minutes and best of all..it doesn’t cost any money.
We don’t need money in politics. We just need people to participate.
Why are you still spending NOW? Stop spending. Buy essentials and if you need a present or something, shop local. I’ve stopped since January. Come on!!!
Yes. Lifestyle change—a home garden ( can’t wait!), bread machine (I love warm bread and fruit in the a.m.), and preservative-free home-baked cakes. I like to cheat. And you’ll have to take the dark chocolate out of my cold dead hands.
I’ve fully embraced “buy only what I absolutely need to survive” & “buy local” as my personal, ongoing protest. I will support the “no buy” national buying boycott days and the National Strike. We can hit the economy hard with our power. We can speak to the admin in the language they understand, $$$
Some of us aren't able to stock up or pay extra for essentials. Walmart and Amazon represent the only affordable options in many cases.
It's important to remember: Each of us should do what they CAN, and the rest shouldn't throw shade because others can't protest or boycott everything all the time.
Same sister! If I can't find it at a mom and pop shop, I don't buy it. Cancelled my Amazon, shut off streaming services. I do audiobooks from my library app. Also stopped eating at chain restaurants several years ago if I happen to go out for a meal.
Yes! I’ve been boycotting Walmart for over 20 years and happy to add target. We mostly eat at home. Cancelled Meta products, Amazon, target and a bunch more. Day 6 no Diet coke!!!
Yes! Haven't shopped at Walmart in decades and that's not easy to do because they're everywhere. My pocketbook is much happier since I started detailed budgeting and could visibly see on my charts where my money was going. Game changer when you aren't randomly scrolling and shopping.
I have 4 Walmarts within a 20 mile radius. They're as bad as a Dollar General being on every damn corner (7 of those within 20 miles of me). It's absolutely ridiculous.
Tiny TN town here with Walmart, Tractor Supply, Home Depot and 6 $ Generals. I shop at the remaining Mom/Pop but it’s limited. Hard to boycott them but I’ve cut waaaay back on spending. Lots of beans/rice/stir fry. Home canned veggies and planting garden to share with neighbors.
Junk falls apart same day. Republicans friggin every time vote against Unions and raising minimum wage. Hell they begrudge education …are we winning yet?
In the UK, we have loads of very well-stocked charity shops, full of secondhand clothing, crockery, loads of books, games, puzzles etc. If you have that over there, go use them! It’s a fabulous reuse of resources too! ♻️🌍
Yes! I have a couple of thrift type stores I visit periodically. There's one near me that uses the funds to help locals with electric bills and groceries so I try to frequent there as much as my budget allows.
That’s a great thought. For those at poverty level it’s not possible. Tweet talking about folks who can’t afford heat. Barely have food to get through the week. One day means a lot to these folks for survival. Feb 28th is a Friday and payday for many. It’s a big ask.
I had the same thought. Post should read “If it’s at all possible for you…”
I stopped buying Amazon about a year ago (for other reasons, but I continue the boycott for the reason Mr. King stated now). Deleted all my Meta accounts, and am working on ways to rid myself of these soul sucking pigs
I think the original idea was actually about buying nothing except! necessities. So no shopping on Amazon for example but of course groceries, medicine etc should be fine.
You already paid for the tickets. Just make sure you have enough gas to get there and back and eat at a local restaurant instead of a chain on the way. If you are going to drink at the concert most venues offer local options at concessions.
Trump doesn’t give a damn about you, me or this country. He’s dismantling our democracy right before our eyes to stay in power, and you still support him. How bout those grocery prices?? Wasn’t he going to fix it on DAY ONE??? Looks like you are the fool.
Who made these grocery prices BIMBO ? Are you so stupid you think he can wave a majic wand and fix the democrats destruction in three weeks ? And he’s not my boyfriend he’s the President I happen to trust
Seeing this is really the only way to do it one day boycott do nothing watch them for year's do nothing if it was a year or two of boycotting it may work but with how much of the globe is rule by people the forces there people to buy or die out side the US.... Russia....it going to be hard
I had it in 2022, the sickest I've felt in my adult life, & I've had sepsis 3 times! Couldn't move, couldn't breathe & I'm an asthmatic but this was worse than an asthma attack. No taste/smell, just sick & the body pain was horrible!!
No,it's still here. We just have meds to treat it & ppl who got the vaccine & boosters are less likely to catch the full blown virus. But ppl who aren't vaccinated are getting it & getting very sick from it. If everyone vaccinated & boosted it wouldn't be as bad. Like Polio, vax=safe.
It's still here and for the immunocompromised and people with poor lung health, like me, it's a major issue. Anyone who has to take steroids to manage a health condition is at risk. Also we are still not sure about the long term health implications of repeated C19 infection. They want you to think
RE: FEBRUARY 28 "Buy nothing Day"
One day WILL NOT impact their spreadsheets.
It would need to be for a least ONE MONTH — preferably: ONE QUARTER.
The problem being though ... it then affects the workers (who would lose their jobs - which could start an economic spiral).
ECONOMICS 101 matters.
A nationwide, months long campaign toward the headquarters of the 10 corporations which hold our food supply hostage (phone calls [flood their switchboard], faxes, emails, postcards, letters, protests outside their front door) WOULD be noticed.
ONE DAY of buying nothing won't.
😂🤣
I've been a thrifter, garage saler, estate saler, freecycler, and curb salvager for decades. My annual retail purchase impact is under $1K (on groceries).
Of course it won’t. One day won’t affect anyone’s job.
But if enough participate it sends a very clear WARNING: We the People are united and the next one will be longer, then longer still, until they’re screaming at Agent Orange to do something to stop the financial hemorrhaging.
Comments
I've already started. Unless I absolutely need something, I am not spending my money. It's an entire movement.
Also, https://protest.net seems to have a decentralized platform to build an active community for events. Never used it, but could be helpful!
I can get a podcast feed that will help keep you anon.
offer substitute or alternative - where to buy at a better company
and the no buy strikes should last longer - a few days or a week or more.
But seriously, it’s only ONE day, folks!
Get Serious! …the new ‘administration’ certainly has!!!
I’ve been calling for monthly strikes of no work, no economic activity, no streaming, no telly. Anyone participating in any of these things can help make the difference.
The conundrum is you want America to do well in the long run, but there’s a problem in its leadership.
Stand up and resist.
Read and research.
Protest and advocate.

I imagine the standards people failed it just by looking at it.
Fuck.
I'm sorry.
It is a huge b-day trip. I'll do my best not to spend any money.
But I am going to tip the fuck out of any server.
I'm trying.
Bigger accounts give it the traction we need.💙👊🇺🇲
They are wrong (again)
Ever.
Consider any commercial entity where your money does NOT stay in your local city or town and then never give them any of your money.
#ResistInvestorsAndShareholders
Without inconvenience resistance is a blip. It’s not convenient, it’s not a Friday after work thing.
No local food shop?
Throw 20 a week into the tank, find and start supporting the less convenient but actual people run shops.
Turns out planting is easy & cheap :) aside from Cannabis, we grow 7 veggies & trade with others for variety.
Sick of paying corps; I make my own mayo & margarine (holy fuck it takes 5 minutes!) & will keep learning till I’m no longer dependent.
"whoa there, we're only doing a boycott. We haven't got to incinerations yet..."
Personally, I’m not into 4 billionaire tech bros bilking then taking over government and our everyday life.
Good work McB.
And the one that is the most important is the ONE DAY SHUT THE COUNTRY DOWN NO WORK.
Hit them where it hurts the most - their bank balances.
Welcome to Democracy!
https://www.newsweek.com/american-businesses-supporting-donating-donald-trump-list-2027957
Let’s make a bigger sacrifice for the hurt our fellow Americans are feeling right now!
Sacrifice to support our fellow Americans who are hurting. Let’s create a bartering system: those who can afford to buy in bulk and share with others, let’s do that. I still have boxes of toilet paper I bought during Covid! 5 years later. We can do this if we ban together!!
A bigger company might have a DEI department or initiative, or pay a higher wage, while "m & p" want minium wage & folk doing jobs of three different people at once. Give less benefits, steal wages etc.
I explicitly stated that in my experience I've seen the opposite, yet somehow that triggered you hard enough to try to deny my lived experiences
Usually when people do that it's coz those experiences tend to shed light on their own misdeeds
At least community pressure has a chance of working when its a small business being shitty, because they don't have the deep cx base to absorb the hit
So for those of us who can afford to spend a little more, we will. Let's not guilt the folks already struggling . Everyone can resist in different ways
We are in this together!
Resist
By local
Don't but Corp America
Boycott Amazon
We can ask those who can, boycott 28th. There is another boycott schedule we can ask of them though. I posted it on my substack.
Walmart
Amazon
Sams club
Target
Harry Potter
Home Depot
Chick Fila
Basically, if you have more than one or two locations, and aren't Costco, you can eat a bag of dicks.
As for longer boycotts, if we don’t stop Trump/Musk, the price will be too high in every conceivable way. We need to say no.
Please don’t misconstrue this as me misunderstanding or disagreeing with the intent of the original post.
I love my state but it sucks here.
I cannot commend this.
But, your life.
But the visual of empty stores would be something...
(We're not France, so making it actually happen? Unlikely)
Otoh, as a former retail worker, I know that workers would have hours cut, so I know who it really hurts.

I hear there’s a seven day one planned for March. Ratcheting up the pressure might just put the scare into ‘em.
To the direct product selling site.
In recent times, there was no Amazon or Target. We do not need them.
Ain’t gonna happen.
This is like asking a Bear not to shit in the woods and get in your garbage.
Ain’t gonna happen.
With all due respect, some folks are homebound and need delivery services.
You ask the Impossible, my Hero.
But agree in principle!
Just a dent. A big dent.
We're all frustrated too, hang in there!
It just has to extend longer than a day because they can prepare for this.
We do have to hit them where it hurts. Profits matter to these people.

Do you truly believe that this administration is serving the people and not themselves?

Don’t buy anything for a year beyond what you absolutely need in order to survive.
That, they will understand.
One day of not buying and they will laugh. One year of not buying and they will shit themselves.
