Care in the community was a progressive idea which has been used in many cases as a thin veneer to cut costs of care.
Palliative care in hospices is funded mainly by charitable donations rather than through NHS.
Assisted dying will do nothing to improve this and could increasingly become expected.

We have one in Canada. A couple years ago my mother passed away with a medically assisted death. After a very difficult year of 'almost not worth being alive' on a downward trajectory against her returned cancer, she had the best exit possible. Out holding my dad's hand. We should all be so lucky.

Agree in principle, but It seems partial and ill thought out as it stands; "six months" is arbitrary and impossible to guarantee, and there's nothing to help people (like me) who don't want the long goodbye of dementia, for themselves or their loved ones. It's a start.

I understand both sides of this vote. The stories of people's horrible, lingering deaths versus the idea of even one person being coerced into suicide. I'm still undecided.

That’s why a person’s decision to pursue assisted dying must be approved by two independent doctors and a High Court judge.

Doctors can't give a firm prognosis, but must give worst case scenario in case it works out that way.
