The Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines where mRNA vaccines. Those are the only ones I know for sure about but there is research on others that is (was?) ongoing.

When I started giving blood in 2021 we were asked if we’d had a covid vaccine. I asked on several visits how many unvaccinated folks gave blood and was told very few. Which makes sense because most of them are very self-centered. So good luck getting yer “pure blood.”

No, no, no! The bill does not prohibit the use of mRNA injected blood. It requires that it be labeled at the time of donation and requires that, in non-emergent situations, the patient be given the option if the non-mRNA blood is available. It's dumb, but it's not rejecting blood donations.

Of course it is. It always is. I just don't want to leave the impression that the bill would reject/refuse blood donations from vaccinated people. I don't want to start, even entirely accidentally, some misinformation campaign. The bill is dumb, it may or many not, but it's dumb regardless.

How would the testers know if the person had Covid or a Covid vaccination from testing the blood? The antibodies would look the same. Does the legislature know what they are doing?

The bill requires the blood bank where the person is donating to ask the person donating if they have had a COVID-19 vaccine or any other mRNA vaccine and then requires the blood bank to label the blood accordingly in a conspicuous manner.
