All the allegations around Gaiman hit me particularly hard because he has always been one of my favourite authors and directors and to see an inspiration and be told that he did all these horrible things is just really upsetting.

There are so many artists, musicians, filmmakers, creators, etc in general who are NOT violent predators, anyway, so why not focus your energy on those instead? They deserve your attention. But I’m also deeply not a fan of separating art from artist.

Yeah I meant more generally ‘the artist’, not specifically this man. And although I appreciate your comment, you have to be understand that many of us started to read his work 30+ years ago and believed he was an artist who wasn’t a violent predator.

You seem to think I’m a child. I’ve been a Gaiman fan for decades also. It’s very easy for me to write him off, given the testimony. No amount of time being a fan and no amount of formative youth spent with his literature could change that.

I've kind of lost interest in Season 2 and I was a big fan. Damn. I still kind of want to see what they do with the Midsummer's Night's Dream issue- but I may have to take some anti nausea meds first.

I've read it, thanks to @alexdecampi.bsky.social I'm not the kind of person who will pile onto someone at the first signs of accusations being thrown, however, if these are true (just being balanced) it really is disturbing, saddening and traumatic for those involved.

I piled on early with this one. NG reacted to the accusations very very badly. He contacted friends to badmouth the women coming forward; he basically accused one woman of hallucinating; and he blamed his own mistakes on misreading social cues because of autism.

On Bluesky he started getting increasingly weird/touchy before everything came out, like marching into the replies of someone with 200 followers who expressed a mildly negative opinion on his work and had not tagged him. I remember thinking at the time how immature it seemed for a 65yo(?) pro writer

Thank you for sharing this. While I hope there are consequences for his egregious behaviour, I know he'll probably get away with it and, as a long time fan who truly adored his stories, that makes me spitting furious for all those he's hurt!!
