Genuinely not sure whether I should tell my kids, who were there with me. I told them I was afraid someone might have died. I’ve never known a multiple fatality I don’t think. It’s so awful. 😢

Better to tell them the truth, I think. This is the hardest part of our sport. Thankfully, such things are becoming less common. But the starts are always incredibly dangerous.

I generally do, informed by the tragedy of my mum’s eldest brother dying in a RTA when she was very young (1950’s) - she was deemed too young to be told. That gave her a visceral aversion to lying to kids about important stuff. Thanks, you nudged me back to my default.
