I'm sorry for the really terrible video but does anyone know if this big beautiful Bumblebee is a Common Carder Bee or someone else? I've seen it on the Honey Garlic a few times recently 😊🌱🐝 ‪@bumblebeetrust.bsky.social‬

Reposting. Just keep trying.....just keep trying 🐟 www.mefoggydog.org/2025/04/11/m... #pwME #Politics #MEAwarenessMonth

This clear warning by Violet Affleck about ignoring mounting threats with our climate and public health is something everyone should read. Using living with ME and PEM as an analogy for how we ignore our societal symptoms & then pay the price is inspired yaleglobalhealthreview.com/2025/05/18/a...

I have been a beekeeper and would like to be again, but getting beehives to 'Save the bees!' is like a sheep farm to support biodiversity. You can do it well and it can have positive impacts, but more domesticated animals won't save wild populations (don't @ me about sheep, struggled for metaphor)

I am so sorry to say that Walker Storz, a person with severe ME, has passed away. Walker was an essayist, a poet, a musician, and someone I chatted with many times via email. A beautiful essay he wrote in 2022: www.todaysamericancatholic.org/2022/05/mere... May his memory be a blessing.

Another baby mantis silhouette, why not 🖤

Labour are backtracking on a plan to help save birds: by blocking a new rule that would make developers put a £35 nest brick in every new home. They think it'll help win them votes - we need to show it would do the opposite. Sign the petition 38d.gs/ky2i

Did you know that, in orchards, "a thriving earwig population can dispose of as many aphids in a year as 3 rounds of insecticide"? Worth a read... #pesticides #gardening hartley-botanic.co.uk/magazine/ins...

The Cambridge Geraniums are now in flower & attracting visitors. Common Carder, Red Mason, & Early #Bumblebee, were the ones I could identify. One leaf cutter too, & a ♂️ Yellow Faced #Bee, but I'm unsure which species each of those is precisely! #wildlifefrommywindow #invertebrates #gardenwildlife

Thank you @claireyoungmp.bsky.social (my MP), and all the other LibDem MPs, for this show of support.

It's all about the Hawthorn at the moment #WildflowerHour

Difficult thread to read, but so important. We all can do something in changing our use of single use paid, those tiny differences add up. Convince your friends and family that changes they can make matter too. And support campaigns that lobby for changes to be made.

A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day.

It's not possible to have too much of ♂️ Red Mason Bees with their lovely floofy General Meltchett moustaches. This one was cleaning his antennae (with his middle legs) whilst taking a break from scouting for ladies. #solitarybees #wildlifefrommywindow #gardenwildlife #invertebrates #invert

Around 1.7 billion items of plastic packaging are thrown away in the UK every week. Shampoo, body wash & liquid hand wash add to this plastic pile-up - so switching from bottles to bars is better for the environment. Eight natural soap bars to try: littlegreenspace.org.uk/reviews/Natural-soaps.html

‘The hypocrisy is staggering’ - I said that because the Govt has said they will whip against the swift brick amendment that they whipped for 2 years ago….They CAN still embrace it. Thanks Patrick for covering swift bricks as we welcome swifts home. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

A new #solitarybee for me today. A ♀️ Fabricius' Nomad #bee! Exciting, as it's a new observation in the garden but also as the #miningbees that it relies on for its lifecycle are also species I've not seen before. Will keep 'em peeled! #wildlifefrommywindow #gardenwildlife #invertebrates #invert

As a reminder that nature is amazing and everywhere, while crossing London from the BBC studios to watch Spurs Women, I just found this glorious rose-chafer beetle on Tottenham High Road - surely one of the UK's most spectacular animals. 🤩 #UKwildlife #beetles 🪲

In the last few days there's been a Marsh Fly hanging around on the edge of the pond. It's a Five-spotted Snailkiller, whose larvae feed on aquatic snails and their egg masses. #invertebrates #invert #wildlifefrommywindow #gardenwildlife

Also,, if you are in the UK and you are in a constituence where there is a vote, and you are registered to vote, oh my Lord, how many more caveats, anyway, I've only just remembered, I've got to vote. Let's make sure the true retrograde bigots that support reform don't have too much fun

For #WorldRobberflyDay I give you Leptogaster guttiventris recorded in my Norwich garden in 2021 and Laphria flava from Abernethy Forest in 2024.

Green Sweat Bee!!! I had a terrible time finding bugs who would slow down enough to be identified for #InverteFest. And then I got to this patch of Golden Ragwort which was covered in pollinators!! #NativePlants #invertebrates 🌿

Found a recently-eclosed luna moth during field work today. It pumped up its wings and was preparing to fly!
