BTW, there are several alternatives, buying directly from the author is a great choice.
I buy books from indie authors, but I always try co buy from them directly, or in my case, from the publishing university.
I posted several alternatives to amazon, the key here is to rebalance amazon power, and perhaps give all the authors a better deal in the end.

There are some self publishing outlets that will let you keep the rights to it.
Also, you can republish the book, another edition and it should not be attached to the original agreement.
Do not quote me on that, because it depends on which agreement you signed.
You can read the "Acknowledgement" and figure it out if you retain publishing rights.
If you retain the copyright is 99.99% chance you own the publishing rights as well.
You can take your book anywhere.

The only ones I used before, I was able to get them at same prize than amazon directly from the vendor.
Some times etsy or ebay will have the same.

You can always limit amazon purchases to that item
