You are a reference. A great reference. It is so easy to mock, ostracize, or block people. In my experience, I saw someone i thought may be gay and left it as not an issue. Until she was able to express her person. Sadly, 3 suicide attempts in. Luckily none successful. Be kind, listen, and support

1. National "bathroom bill" forcing trans women into men's rooms where they'll face violence and trans men into women's rooms where cis-women seeing men in their bathrooms will no doubt result in calls to police and harassment. This has been promised by Mike Johnson, MTG, and others.

2. Forcing trans people to use the sex a doctor assigned them at birth for all government documents (passports, etc.). Promised by orange man in a 2023 interview where he promised a law stating that only Male and Female would be recognized and based solely on sex assigned at birth.

3. Making it legal for health insurance companies to refuse coverage for trans people. We've all heard the talk of repealing the ACA (aka Obamacare). Section 1557 of that act makes discrimination illegal on various basis (including gender identity and sex). No ACA = No Gender Protections.

4. Making it illegal for trans people to get gender related medical care. RFK stated this weekend he intends to gut the FDA. The FDA could be used to prohibit off-label treatments like hormone therapy. This has been a favorite target of the right claims of "experimental procedures".

Understand that any one of these items could be devastating and potentially deadly. Consider them collectively and you can see why trans people are so afraid. Trans people will be among the first attacked, but certainly not the last. So as a cis person, you might want to start caring about this too.
