Yup! Like the platform exacerbates the problem by failing at trust and safety, but the problem began with people and will continue with people.

Until people actively choose to be different, things will not change & those of us who freed ourselves get dragged back down by people who won't grow.

I still haven't *figured out* this platform, at all. Not the algorithm, not what I'm being shown, not what gets shown to me. I'm not seeing negative stuff (much) but I am kind of just confused as to why I'm here. Is it better than Twitter? Maybe. I deleted it because of *that guy*. But here? *shrug*

The following feed shows you whoever you follow chronologically. Nothing else. The discover feed is algorithmically driven based on who you follow/interact with. I hate it and deleted it.

But for me it's less what I "see" and more who replies to me. I can't really curate that like a feed.

Yeah, I switch between them. But it seems no matter how much I engage with others (by replying) it doesn't lead to people seeing or replying if I post, other than people I knew before this platform. Maybe that's just me?

No, it's not just you! People used to reply ALL the time and now I largely get the same handful of people I've been chatting with for a year or random unsolicited bots and reply guys who want to tell me I'm stupid for whatever reason. Newer accounts tend to get less of those.

So today I have been trying to post more of my comics fandom stuff and generally engage with fandom more and like... actually talk to people. And I gotta admit that my notifications have been popping off a lot.
It's like 100% spam bot accounts but they have definitely been popping off *sighing*

Oof, I'm sorry. I still get some genuine interaction on here, but the amount of work it takes to reach people is so much higher and ALWAYS results in reply guys, and I have to wonder if it's worth it. 3 good interactions for 10 bots/assholes feels like a poor ROI.

Idgaf about maga. I can block bigots. I can subscribe to a blocklist and never see the bigots at all. I can't subscribe to a blocklist that makes people stop acting in irrational chronically online ways like thinking "nazi bar" is a legitimate reply to every day conversations

In 2 years, this place is gonna be exactly like Twitter, and everyone's gonna be mad and then a bunch of us losers are gonna be somewhere else and everyone is gonna love what we built so they'll swarm over and ruin it and then be like "why does this place suck?"
