AI-bros use the term 'AI' to refer to LLMs and AGI because they WANT to confuse you; they want you to associate the term 'AI' with those products.
AI just means artificial intelligence - anything designed to execute logic. That word has a wide range of uses that aren't generative or derivative

See this about AI and Bluesky:
This is what they mean when they talk about AI, not genAI. Heck, Bluesky is ALREADY using AI for those purpouses. So calm down guys.
Alright, guess this is the last I'll say about it because I'm a bit sick of it lol

i made a AI to play against the computer. is not even machine learning either. just a simple algo to make logic moves per game rules
and now i oddly feel like tech bros stole the term from gamers. yikes.
AI in science to find cancer is super dope
NPC AI in games makes them fun
AI in statistics can save you weeks and years of time
and none of these AIs generate slop depending on stolen data
they want to hate the product that came from strategically grifting and stealing intellectual property to digest the data and shit out "content"
its a ethical concern
its a legal concern
but the term AI plays no actual role in the issues we have with what it is
Really generative AI just shows the flaws of capitalist systems more than anything else
Went to a insulin pump introduction and they were trying to explain that it uses AI to calibrate with your personal glucose and insulin intake without saying AI because they knew people will panic and think of GenAI
in fact, if you've ever made a custom feed, guess what? you've made a custom AI.
AI =/= AI
