This “Starmer spends too much time abroad” thing is risible. He’s a new PM, establishing relationships, in a world which is on fire- all of which affecting voters at home.

Didn't the tories go on about "global Britain"?
Isn't that what Starmer is doing now?
The images of him in France today - that's a statesman.
Imagine #liarjohnson in that vehicle.
There's no comparison.
Generally agree. Also confirms that, as a leader, he believes in his assembled cabinet to deliver their agreed aims. PMs, or any leader, constantly getting into their staffs business always makes me nervous. Especially when I’m at work.
Couldn’t agree more, yet another example of the crooked priorities of much of our media if you ask me.
Isn’t Global Britain supposed to be strutting on the world stage? I’m glad we have a proper statesman as PM working to rebuild trust with allies, esp given the geopolitical situation
They’re just weirdly contorting themselves to come up with some angle of attack on him. How vocal were they when Johnson slipped his security to attend a former KGB man’s party in Italy….?
Do you know what happened at Sky? These Sam Coates stories seem to be made up with the sole intention of providing some fodder for Tory MPs and are perfectly timed e.g: today.
Yup, so much of our media is acting like Brexit & the last Tory government never happened. As a nation we just spent the last 8 years telling our allies to feck off 🤪🇬🇧
And he's actually abroad for reasons related to his role as PM, building bridges and sounding out where he (and therefore the country) stand with others after the change in government.
Wasn’t that Raab, paddle boarding on his hols while the Afghanistan withdrawal was kicking off 🤔. Then said it couldn’t be true because ‘the sea was closed’ 🤣 what a bunch of knobs they were!
If Starmer wears lace up shoes the same people will be screaming about the detrimental effect it's having on the slip on shoe industry, they will also probably throw in a demand for his resignation.
It's so shrill at the moment my ears are bleeding.
So this thought was triggered by Sam Coates' little list? I would honestly have read that as supporting Starmer. How much effort he's putting into trying to force an increasingly marginalised UK back on to the world stage.
He can’t win, they would be tearing strips off him if he was a stay-at-home PM.
Laughable in its desperation.
Next they will be suggesting Farage as US ambassador 🤣🤣🤣
This is all true, but also Sam Coates could have, let me check my notes here, reported on the reasons why the PM has been abroad so people know rather than manufacturing content for his podcast 🤷🏻♀️
Quite.
I don’t like the guy, but if you’re going to criticise him and his government, then do it about something real, not this nonsense.
We need our neighbours more than ever.
I mean, it's not like he's slipping his security detail to go to a Bunga Bunga party in the house of the son of a KGB spy- imagine the noise and fury Mr Coates would make over something like that. 🤔
Seems to be lead by Sky News, which seems to have taken a strategic decision to chase the GBNews viewers. Sky have taken a wild swing to the Right since election - Rigby and Coates have been awful. As with Tories chasing Reform, it won’t work.
I think it is perfectly acceptable for you as an experienced to express your opinion. Dan Rather who was very much respected by the US public and politicians often did.
How you build lasting solutions on growth and humane migration policy without cross-border collaboration (particularly in a post-Trump world order) is completely beyond me
These right wing commentators really are clutching at straws now.
They lost their influence on the government and they are just scrabbling around for any rocks to throw, even if it ricochets and hits them in square in the plums...
I’m incensed by it! Where were they when Johnson was in
Mustique or Raab was in Greece when Afghanistan was abandoned to the Taliban? Or when johnson didn’t bother to turn up for cobra meetings? Murdoch press, not proper journalism imo.
Completely agree. Reporting by Sky News trying to whip up outrage. Imagine if Starmer said he wasn't going to COP or the Commonwealth meetings? Sky news would be the first to accuse him of poor foreign policy and how important it is that he meets foreign leaders and establishes relationships.
Sam Coates is the one who also started all the disproportionate outrage about Starmer’s glasses and wife’s clothes without context and any reference to custom and the record of all the previous politicians in government. He definitely seems to be on some kind of anti Starmer mission.
It wasn’t that long ago when Sky was a fairly balanced news source. They’ve had a complete meltdown since Labour won though, little better than the Daily Fail some days
Totally agree. I used to have Sky news running all the time but now it has become too irritating too much of the time. It seems to go far beyond legitimate holding the govt to account and is relentlessly nitpicking and negative about every aspect of whatever they do.
Yes. They started about freebies, then suggested that Farage should be government ambassador for the US and now criticise Starmer for travelling abroad even though he is PM.
And if he wasn’t, there’d be a deafening chorus deriding him for being too isolationist; for not putting the U.K. on the world map; trade deals etc etc
He’s damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t.
I don't offer political opinions much, I use this as a news aggregator but Starmer, Healey and Fiona Hill (look her up its worthwhile) are taking the future of Europe seriously.
He is not a good communicator but he is a listener and his administration is busy getting us ready.
Its the enshittification of skynews.
They just want to manufacture scandal, first KB, then BR, now SC...its pathetic.
PM does job, thats all it really is.
It's the absolute hypocrisy by these tin pot journalists, kept quiet for years of Tory piss takes, now they are losing their minds. The trouble is these journos have become addicted to 'clicks' and 'likes', they know they are writing tosh. Matters not anymore
I would much rather that he’s out doing his job and building relationships and coalitions to help whatever the future might bring. I don’t know why it’s even a thing 🤷♀️
Yup, frankly he can’t win. Yesterday they were demanding he build an EU bulwark against Trump, today he does that & apparently he’s spending too much time abroad 🤪🤣
Some commentators will invent a variety of sticks to beat him with - too much/not enough, too big/too small, decisive/indecisive, antisemitic/Zionist... Journalistic integrity seems to have become a rare quality - present company excepted of course 😉
One simple observation - he responds to invitations and this was a month with lots of international gatherings. Just tells us last three Tory PMs were not greatly valued internationally.
Shame Sky News wants to undermine Global Britain image building! Just saying it did not help before
Any information on the catering bills on the flights that Starmer is taking? Any of them yet reached the dizzying heights of greedy guzzlers from the TORY party who racked up bills in the tens of thousands just for food on the flights THEY took?
Also, Parliament has been in Recess for much of that time, and foreign policy, especially trade was the area the previous administration did the most damage to the interests of the British people.
Yup, if Britain is to have any chance we need to rebuild those bridges. I know this comes as a surprise to 50% of our fellow citizens, but we don’t have an empire anymore!
Plenty of work to be done forging better relationships. Especially now, and particularly in Europe, given the transatlantic alliance is about to be put to the test in a fairly unprecedented way (at least in terms of the past couple of hundred years).

We don't want to listen to propaganda.
Leave it to those still playing in the billionaires playground.

It’s like they’re scraping the barrel to find trivial things to complain about!!
Flabbergasted I tell you.
With that one simple statement I’ve destroyed 90% of our politics 🤪🤣
Cameron, Cleverly, Truss, Raab, Hunt, Johnson, Hammond, Hague.
What a catalogue of clowns.
It's so shrill at the moment my ears are bleeding.

I don’t know how they don’t self-combust from hypocrisy.
That is the follow up for your fellow journalists if they ask this silly, loaded question.
They are beginning to look ridiculous.
Oh, no he didn't.
Imagine if we had a functioning media. Just imagine 🤪🤣
Call me a fanboy but Starmer is going to places for US.
Embarrassing really!
He’s damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t.

Following on earlier visits to the US, Germany, Italy and Brussels
What do people think the UK leader should be doing on a Monday?
