I'd strongly recommend reading about the harmful practices that have been used to derive these models - environmental impact, copyright infringement, problematic content, bias, treatment of human trainers, overvaluing of companies due to hype, etc. Do these reflect your values?

Are there models that maybe do these things better than others? Can you limit the harms done in other ways? (e.g. run locally) What would you do if you didn't have the AI tool? If the answer is to hire someone, then what about the impact of not hiring someone. Is that sustainable for your industry?

These are just some of the things that you need to think about if you want to juggle this new world where regulation has not caught up to technology. What world are we building together? How can we make sure it's a socially responsible one?

So I mean I can see the power of genAI and how it might be useful to a lot of people. But you can't just handwave away the ethical questions under "well everyone uses them so it's okay". Part of being a responsible creator is to critically examine new technologies, and maybe choose not to use them.

The games industry is under a lot of pressure right now, so people are making difficult choices, and there is a lot of flux in terms of regulation, etc. So don't build in reliance on one model/approach & keep your values at the forefront of decision-making. Be able to pull the plug on your AI use.
