I just finished Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler. @neveahfs.bsky.social recommended it and it was very worth reading but did some significant psychic damage given the topic (breakdown of society) and when it was set (now). All of the CWs, it was brutal. But also excellent. Oof.

Good. Pay in Universities is a disgrace, with a more than 30% loss in value of earnings over the last decade. But balloting over this when tens of thousands are at risk of redundancy from UK Universities would be the wrong move.

The "should I use AI tooling as part of my workflow" question is a really gnarly one that's come up the last couple of days. I think it's really important to decide where your values lie and try to align them as best as you can. But you need to critically interrogate the tools you use!
