It is a shame that newspapers, once owned by families who cared about journalism, are now owned by corporations who care only about the almighty dollar.
I welcome anyone who recognizes the threat we’re under. She took a stand against it and perhaps at her own expense. How many of those people are you aware of?
“That’s it! I’m done!” I say, yelling into my computer screen. “If WaPo won’t furnish me with the exclusive Jen Rubin takes that I need to make sense of this world, then I’m cancelling my subscription forthwith!”
Ironically they 'are' the authoritarian threat. They've paid most of the US congress via #AIPAC to squash free speech on behalf of the Israeli govt. #FreePalestine 🇵🇸🔻🇵🇸
So, in part, it's because when these Republican commentators come in to the Democratic they act as if they are speaking for some broad constituency and are treated as such, but orienting a campaign around appealing to them netted Kamala fewer Republican votes than Biden got.
I'm all for shitting on her for that, but that has nothing to do with what she's doing here. I think Kamala listened to stupid consultants that brought her the loss but all of this is an entirely separate issue. Her deplatforming herself is goodnot having Bezos to muzzle any Trump criticism are good
She'll certainly have less exposure to people at this new place. I think she's terrible otherwise but the only time I do hear about her is criticizing Trump, so if she goes somewhere that'll make sure she can continue doing that I'm fine w/ it.
These self important media and op-ed types have a constituency in so far as "wealthy Reaganites who have never worked a real job in their life and live in DC or Manhattan" are a constituency. Chasing them has been a proven loser because it just kills support from larger, base constituencies.
Any one who cares about Jennifer Rubin's opinion is already voting for Democrats. The Clintonian approach of trying to appeal to college educated surbanites at the expense of minorities, LGBTQ+ people, and labor has been a resolute failure and Jen Rubin embodies that failure
It seems like this outlet won't be for anything but that but only time will tell. If she's not on a WaPo platform anymore that's ultimately a good thing regardless I would think
I was. I think starting a business with someone else is a lot of work to do purely for attention, especially when you're deplatforming yourself from WaPo. I could be totally wrong and just don't know her antics well enough.
could, just as long as it allowed her to yell at leftists/anyone who actually opposed authoritarianism coming from the genocidal terrorist state of Israel.
You could argue she tried, she just failed, and there's nothing more appealing to a certain section of the liberal commentariat that someone who fails doing things "the right way."
Rubin thinks there’s a solid base of pro corporate, pro war, libertarian-esque Americans who just don’t approve of Trump’s vulgarity. MAGA-free Republicans. I doubt it.

Which political candidate has threatened to go after *anyone* that has opposed him
Hint: his initials are DJT
Not a nude of Bidens's son, like what Mardyarse Traitor Queen tried to use to convict Biden
You see, unlike the Republican party, dems hold their leaders responsible
Trump had committed imprisonable crimes before he entered the white house the first time round
How she never got fired from WaPo is just another stain on a dying paper.
Holy fck.
