I spent 6 years of my life working for a military alliance, so I do know a few things about them, or at least about the one I worked for, namely NATO. And it is that alliance which is currently under question.

To be fair: Portugal, Spain, Greece, Turkey were not part of the now shared values at some point. I think it is great that NATO changed from an anti-commi block towards a pro-democracy block in recent decades, but no guarante it cant transform again.

I have never worked for NATO and I am surprised. Because those involved have different values and different interests, which is why we prefer democracy and sovereignty. In the event of a threat, we must put aside our differences in values to fight the enemy.

Maybe we have a different understanding of value. The term is not mentioned in the contract. The preamble says the opposite: “safeguard... common heritage... of their peoples,” which includes each other's values. “based on the principles of…” So I think you mean principles. I'll go with you.
