When the entire Republican Party has rolled over for him, when Elon and his posse of incel clowns are gutting agencies, withholding legally appropriated money and mining data… no, the institutions aren’t going to hold.
#impeach47 or we as a country go from first world leader to a Venezuelan-type dictatorship within the year. Grow a spine, Congress! We *had* a pretty darn good economy before Donnie Dolt came to power and tanked it within 90 days.
Prof Wolfers is watering it down. The "fundamental fragility in American" Governance is that if we have a corrupt President supported by his party's corrupt leadership in Congress, our system has no guardrails to stop them from bankrupting the country to fill their pockets!
We also had a brief 4-year period when some effort could have been made to put in guardrails and nothing happened! Our government went back to business as usual as if nothing significant had just occurred. So here we are.
I’d like to say that if Ds ever get the trifecta they should put guardrails in place to stop this from happening again. But that already exists. What’s missing is the will to enforce them.
Republicans could turn the economy around tomorrow if they wished.
Nice to see someone being frank and straightforward. Nice one Justin - now come home and tell Dutton he’s a fiscal idiot before we follow the crazy US example.

The institution that has failed here is the Republican Party in Congress. Nobody else.
