I think George Stephanopoulos is perhaps the best Sunday show host out there but it's very noticeable that he's been going softer on Trump since ABC's settlement

My BIGGEST regrets in life stem not from the many dumb things Iβve done but rather the times I did nothing, stayed silent, fearing reprisal and backlash.
Many people will look back to these days and REGRET why they sat back paralyzed and let this Trump craziness happen.
That Stephanapoulos is not as hard-hitting as he might once have been does not disqualify him from having the best Sunday show. Just sayin'.
I swore off television when I retired in 2019, so I can't offer a truly worthwhile opinion of 'best'.
Sunday shows are a joke - on Sunday I turn the TV and YouTube off these days because it just perpetuates the same bullshit media cycles and feckless βjournalismβ thatβs gotten us to where we are.
Iβve seen enough terrible interviews from Kristin Welker and the rest to know Iβm not missing much
I quit watching MTP in 2015, not looked back. And youβre right, the media in its many forms have failed the American people especially the outlets and βjournalistsβ that lie directly to their faces without skipping a beat because they believe their own BS.
I didnβt even start really until 2020 encouraged me to engage with the news - these personalities like Chuck Todd, Kristin Welker, countless other household names, I started out thinking they were at least trying. Iβm no longer under that illusion, arenβt they part of a SAG type union?
Yeah those are two of the few I still find worthy of listening to. Honestly most of MSNBCs evening line up is good , Ari Melber is actually my least favorite but heβs aight. Everyone on CNN has proven useless, msnbc daytime is useless , and besides like a handful of writer/news people, I can do wo
I could be wrong but I think I heard Ari Melber mention this when there were those recent strikes. Theyβre actors way more than they are journalists, no matter how much theyβd like to think they arenβt.
I respect a few but they need to earn it from me now, and Iβm jaded AF
ABC has lost any and all claim to journalistic integrity (it's been shaky for years anyway) by either blatantly admitting it lied about Trump (which it didn't) or that it will lie to flatter and please the incoming FΓΌhrer.
Either way, ABC News can no longer be trusted in their reporting.
Doesn't matter. He's a wuss. He's got FU money, had a sterling reputation and threw it all away while placating a felon, liar, ignoramus, and bully - and he knows it's wrong. No spine, no character.
A lot of good people work there (Karl, Raddatz, Muir, Linsey Davis among others) but ABCNews has to re-earn my trust on political stories. And I worked there for 30-yrs!
I havenβt watched ABC News since GS so legitimized orange guy through the first winning campaign. GS is not alone, but he was at it daily for months.
There's no such thing. The Sunday shows have broadcast mindless talking points with no real interrogation since the days they were sponsored by Archer Daniels Midland.
I thought George would speak out and/or resign. I understand heβs had a long career & a lot of success, but still, his caving is disappointing. At minimum, hit hard back against Trump.
I no longer watch abc for anything. They canβt be trusted to do the right thing. Itβs all about the easy way out which equals paying off criminals.
Um. I am pretty sure George was one of the MAIN individuals who helped elect him the first time. Him and SNL helped the public quickly move past all the reservations about him as a candidate and they worked really hard to humanize him and "both sides" us TO DEATH.
I donβt watch any of them anymore. The lack of credibility is pervasive. If you donβt know truth before you start an interview, allow lies, and have no ability to push back, start a new career. Journalism is not for you.
The (corporate) Fourth Estate is now a fifth column.
Been catching up on documentaries on the robber-baron days and the First Rapist's new fave McKinley - Bezos, Morgan, Musk and Ford - They own the world now and we are but subscribers always at risk of cancellation.
Donβt see why he doesnβt go the freelancing route (if he indeed was not happy about ABC bending the knee). He probably is wealthy enough to take a chance on a podcast or web channel format. Maybe too much hassle for him to branch outβ¦
I used to watch GMA for factual news updates. Now the βnewsβ particularly political, is diluted to pass Trump standards. Theyβre so afraid theyβll get sued or retaliated against they WONβT do their jobs. Heck, even their smiles look fake. Particularly Stephanopoulos. No one likes to get sued.
No one would willfully subject themselves/their family to being hunted and to financial ruin. If he's a bit softer, he's not alone in doing that. A bit of understanding is not misplaced. We'll see how the reporting goes once Trump and his troop of loyalists really start to wreck the government.
Puhleeze! Quid Pro Quo. Disney is a corporation. Corporations are amoral. Corporations exist for tax breaks/shareholders NOT the public interest. The Government's Watchdog is now the Government's Lapdog!
We need to boycott anyone who is compromised or going βsofterβ as you say. It seems to be working with Mika and Joe on msnbc and also with CNN. Viewershipπ Iβve committed to never support any journalist, publication or news outlet who pretends that anything trump does is normal. Thatβs Final
Really?? I thought he was quite good today always referring to him as the former president and not president elect. He also got another dig in regarding wealth but I donβt remember the exact exchange.
I wonβt watch. Used to be a GMA viewer until they obeyed in advance but I was annoyed at their bringing on Chris Christie to comment on and ultimately defend Trump. Itβs corporate media thru and thru
Did you think he did a good job when he interviewed President Biden after the debate debacle? Because I thought he interviewed like an arrogant a-hole & his badgering bordered on harassment. He has never treated trump that way because heβd have gotten up & walked out & then humiliated him on SM.
They've gone softer on him because they are afraid of him and his mob boss tactics. They have all failed us! He's going to turn on every single on of them
I get the impression that mainstream media has reconciled itself to the victory of the American fascist movement and has decided that acquiescence and perhaps even collaboration is the best path forward. They are not to be trusted.
I know he and the others need to be respectful whatever so Pubs will continue to appear on their show but I'd love to see one of them haul off and go medieval on them, figuratively speaking of course.
During ABC's New Year's Day coverage of the attack on Bourbon Street, the D.C. reporter in the story shared social media statements from Biden and Trump, conspicuously omitting Trump's false assertion that the assailant was an immigrant. #AnticpatorySelfCensorship
He should have resigned in protest after that. They are all softer and will get worse as the admin goes forward. When trump dies they will all beg for forgiveness.
Most of the mainstream journalists have proven to be spineless, IMO. Thank you for your continued fearless and fierce reporting. Same for Marc Elias and others.
We should all just stop watch ABC News, NBC, CBS, CNN, Fox, and MSNBC along with not subscribing to NYT and WaPO. These legacy media platforms have all failed at journalism 101. They're more concerned with ratings and profits then quality journalism. Just stop giving them viewership of any kind.
AP, Reuters, BBC, The Guardian. Most "news" these days from American mainstream sources has so much editorial overlayed that it's commentary and punditry.
You realize that they are legacy media too? And they have their foibles. Ex: AP released a story that says there's never been an inauguration with lowered flags. Except there was, in 1973.
Viewers need to take some responsibility to learn truth from fiction.
No source is perfect, of course, but the error AP made that you cite wasn't the result of an editorial policy that pulls punches for Republicans or creates false equivalence in the name of balance.
AP and Reuters has done a lot of aboutism the past four years.
Bottom line is guys like Rupar share from legacy media because it shows us what politicians are saying. Most of the country lost local media outlets, so we need to follow as many sources as possible to understand what's happening.
Medias Touch. Brian Tyler Cohen. Luke Beasley. Harry Sisson. Pondering Politics. Glenn Kirshner. Marc Elias. Shall I go on? Thereβs plenty of alternative news outlets that are independent and reliable.
Everyone needs to stop watching anyone who is clearly kissing the ring. They can bow down to whoever they want but they wonβt have jobs if their ratings are in the toilet. We, the people, have more power than we realize!

A damn shame because he's too smart & sharp to be obeying in advance.

And his paycheck is too sweet for him to walk away from it.

I was impressed with his outspokenness. And loved him for it. Hence less so now...

They passed the point of no return with capitulating to fascism. ππΌπ―

It is bs that they settled

What a shame everyone knew what would come out in the deposition.
