Tom Emmer dismisses Trump illegally firing inspectors general: "This is much ado about nothing ... President Trump exercised his authority and I respect that."

So if a cop pulls him over for speeding and the cop beats the shit out of him for not proving submissive enough, will he still respect the abuse of authority?
It's insane to me that the entire Republican party is comprised of grifters, hacks, dickbags, and hypocrites, but millions of people still vote for them over things they are *blatantly lying about* like their plans to "fix" the healthcare system, or bring down inflation, or improve the economy.
The scary lesson is that they aren't hypocrites. They genuinely believe in aristocracy and that people like Trump can and should do things that would be wrong for "lesser" people.
No, Tom toady. Trump broke the law so that there would be no accountability for the actions of his cabinet.
Emmer- resign. You are a disgrace to your constituents.
What does he have on all these people that they're so scared of him. Jeez just stare the whole cabal down. Must be some seriously dodgy skeletons hidden in all their wardrobes.
Your daily reminder that Republicans are all in on violating the law as an "exercise of authority" because control is all that counts. And in autocracy you've got to respect that authority.
Failure to respect the law is never much ado about nothing. The “nothing” here is what the law requires to demonstrate that the firings are justified. Suppose he was replaced as a member of Congress absent an election as required by law. Those process issues are in the law for a reason.
Hey, it isn't as if he broke an important law. He's done things way more illegal than that. What do you expect from someone that doesn't respect the rule of law. And all of it is perfectly all right with his toadies.
"Trump has the right to decide if these people continue with the administration..." Sheesh, the whole point of inspectors general, is that they are outside of and independent of the administration to protect the public against abuses of power by the administration.
Mango Mousollini is trying to distract but also blatantly breaking the law. He can fire them but has to go through proper channels that’s including a 30 notice to congress.
Republicans have to bend over backwards for all of these excuses because they know that if they say any different Trump will make sure they lose their job.
I'd like Emmer to explain to me why Trump dismissed all the IGs. What was his rationale?
The statute says the President "shall" provide Congress with an explanation (and 30 days advance notice). Majority Whip Emmer should be able to refer to that, right?
That should have been the follow up question, one thing America political journalists don’t do or lack the capacity to do. They seem to have a script and questions they don’t deviate from.
They just fill their time slots. They don't seem to care if they end an interview having creating a gross mis-representation of facts. The time slot ends, so they move on. And the lying politicians know this, so they just filibuster until the time is over.
Can we get a follow up asking that, if and when a Dem president gets in, he or she will be within their right and will have republican support for the same decision. Be nice to get him on record for that.
Emmer is the prototypical “yes man” and the kind of ass-kissing apologist would find ways to justify mass genocide or any other kind of atrocity one could think of if needed. Reminds me of the PM’s underling Tim Stamper from the UK version of “House of Cards” (also a whip, btw).
If we're relying on congress to throw up roadblocks and grasp hold of the constitutional prerogatives they have, we will be let down repeatedly. Those without full-on fealty are a feckless bunch who are all concerned, mostly with their own selfish interests.
There is a contradiction in the "I haven't read the law" and "the president has an absolute right".
If you want to argue the law is stupid, do that, but to say he can do the illegal thing after saying you haven't read the law is just stupid.
I love it when they keep saying that they “haven’t read that” line of talk. They think it’s their way of an attempt to stay neutral and personally get themselves off the hook.
Tom Emmer is such a douche bag who cares nothing about his constituents or the country. It’s scary when they blatantly admit they don’t the laws they are supposed to be protecting
“ this is much ado about nothing …President Trump exercised his authority and I respect that “
That’s nearly verbatim what Lindsey said yesterday as did others
Refukligans got their phrase
See Schumer , Jeffries? That’s how you do
You 2 sent out “ surrender “
Wake the Fk up. Sound bites!!
🍒 Got excited because he finally exercised and got depressed because just like every other time he had someone else do it for him. Props to whichever weirdo named Rubio was assigned food-chewing duties this week.
"And I respect that. Please don't primary me because only the freak companies would hire me if I lose my House seat. I don't want to sit on the board of some energy drink company run by the type of people I pretend to admire."
No Trump committed a felony again he violated the law and the US Constitution he just swore and oath to protect which is a crime contrary to the lies of the traitors in the SCOTUS.
At this point what could Trump do that they wouldn't respect? There is no right or wrong for these cowards, just complete & utter loyalty for the most insecure man in the world.

When Biden exercised legal authority he absolutely did have they flipped their fucking lids.
Maybe there's a lesson here somewhere about caring what they think?

Did Trump do this in his first term?
Won't mean much, but I feel better.
they require 30 days notice, and an actual REASON, you can't just write down "For Cause."
congress literally has to approve it. more republican cunt lies
Wind Emmers up and he spews the felon's message.

Why are these R politicians such spineless sycophants? Are they terrified of having to get real jobs?
It shows that OUR LAWS are stronger than Trump.
Trump caved. He’s a wimp.
THAT’S THE NARRATIVE.
"I haven't personally read the law but I'll let the courts determine that"
Ignorance is no excuse for violating the law unless you're a Republican

Perhaps when he’s done reading the law, he should brush up on the Declaration of Independence.
