He yelled that the proper place to stand was 6 feet from home, up the 3rd base line. He said I should position myself there to wait for the throw. I walked to that spot and yelled back “Here?… like Ray Fosse?”
I played catcher in a men’s softball league. I would stand to the side of the plate when setting up for throws to the plate.
After a play where the run scored the right fielder yelled I was not in position.
According to Wiki, '06 for upper deck and lower deck between dugouts,' 07 for remainder of lower deck. I thought it was farther away from the WS, like '09, so I was off.
I LOVED Fergie Jenkins and would go early to Wigley Field just to watch him warm up. Really wanted to marry him!!! Just happened to look him up and YES! He has a statue as of May 2022. Thanks for posting this, Aaron, as it brought back many fond memories.
My all-time favorite player. Got an autographed photo of him in the mail in response to a fan letter I had sent to the Yankees. Postmark on the envelope is April 1979. He belongs in the Hall.
I love the Harry Caray one outside of Wrigley…especially when the Cubs were in the World Series, and fans, remembering his words, put a “little green apple” in his hand.
If the first one is so good why did you dishonor them by not posting their name? Of all the things you post to social media, you still think the world GAF about baseball idols?
