There has been a knocked down highway signpost laying in the grass near my Metro station for years. After another accident, a bumper sat on the sidewalk for weeks until a pedestrian put the whole thing in a Metro trash can. The sand they put down to soak up engine fluids is still a mud pile.

When you move around primarily or exclusively by car, you may not see the evidence of car crashes around you:

smashed fences & retaining walls
bent sign posts
broken car pieces
broken windshield glass, etc.

For those who travel by 🚢🏻, 🚲,🦽 & 🚌 these reminders are everywhere on sidewalks & streets.
