The thing is, I think we all accepted that the Oasis makes sense a bit TOO easily. It's a sad but sweet story: Deshret loved the Goddess of Flowers, but she dies, so he makes a cemetery to immortalize her. It is a "moment frozen in time" to capture her eternally. Simple, right?

However, there are multiple issues. Time doesn't flow there. Rukkhadevata's name is preserved on one of the thrones, suggesting that Irminsul is unable to affect it. And though we're told it was created as a final resting place for the Goddess of Flowers, she is apparently nowhere to be found there.

The Eternal Oasis is the ONLY place in Teyvat that has escaped Irminsul alteration, which is no small matter. It's also the only place where time stops. Even in domains and realms of consciousness--even inside BOOKS--time flows. It's a beautiful metaphor, yes, but frozen time is more than that.

Time is one of the laws, part of the Natural Order. With Ronova, we see how impossible it is to overturn the rules of the Heavenly Principles. Yet time does not flow in the Oasis, meaning that he must have somehow created a space that violates these laws. But how? And why?

"How" is a bit more straightforward. The hourglass from the Flower of Paradise Lost set describes the creation of the Eternal Oasis. It's implied that Deshret used the fragments of the Celestial Nail in the desert ("the gems beneath the deep sands"), adding the power of the Jinn...

...and, likely, the forbidden knowledge he obtained with the Goddess of Flowers' help. With so much power, he could challenge the Heavenly Principles. But why?

We hear that he did it to bury and memorialize his beloved. That's sweet, but it's also false. After all, the GoF is not there. What's up?
