Actually, Visual Studio does not support long paths. The registry key you are setting just enables long path support in Windows as described here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/fileio/maximum-file-path-limitation?tabs=registry#enable-long-paths-in-windows-10-version-1607-and-later

There has been an open feature request for VS for a long time: https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/t/allow-building-running-and-debugging-a-net-applica/351628

It's a bit more complex most things work but, it's not enough when those paths get passed along to another process, which yes will affect some workloads even after the adjustment.

Mkay. I hit this problem once with a project and it had all kind of weird issues.

Shorter path worked though. So did Rider.
