If he had the balls to pair this with a demand to increase the top 1 or 2 income tax brackets then he'd have some credibility.

The problem is you can only take the GST off goods once. It doesn't "fix" systemic problems.

Exactly this. Until income taxation disparity is addressed no liberal-leaning agendas will be able to take off in a meaningful way. The NDP do have some good social welfare ideas but still no way to pay for them. And with the incoming US govt who knows how we’re going to be hit financially

Permanent GST Cuts - No, governments never lose revenue sources without compensating someplace else, like perhaps increasing the overall GST rate from 5% to either 6 or 7% to offset.

Singh claims costs will be lower without the GST but prices will not be coming down. The benefit for the majority will be negligible compared to the cost of ending billions in revenue needed to pay for essential services.

The rich always benefit the most from tax cuts.
