- We don't end book bans by banning books, even if it's The Bible and it feels like a gotcha. That's NOT IT.

- There are no "good" or "bad" states. Blue states are just as "bad" as red states in many situations, especially with book banning.

The reality is people are dealing with voter suppression and disenfranchisement and red states have long histories of gerrymandering.

- Most librarians and educators care about intellectual freedom but not all of them do. We have a real issue with quiet/silent censorship. I attribute a good chunk of that to decisions made in fight-flight-freeze, but the calls do originate inside the house, too. Calling that out matters.

- This work has been ongoing for many, many years. Take the time to catch up on that work before starting something new/suggesting something that's been done or been in the works for years and years.

Work where there are places to work. Don't reinvent a wheel.

- The American Library Association isn't going to save anyone and their efforts over the last four+ years have proven to do little. People *within* the organization are doing the hard, thankless, brave, dangerous work, but the org itself isn't the place to go.
