I did read something a while ago that warm and temperate cities have higher unhoused rates because of the lack of urgency snow cities have.
I wish we were more urgent before the French Toast rush starts.

For sure. You *can* live year-round outside in LA. It’s deadly in STL, CHI, DET, NYC etc due to harsh winters.

Especially if we fund what ALL of the shelter operators want, TRANSITIONAL housing. They need a next step for the homeless from crisis shelter to transitional housing where there is still support.

It’s a small segment but maybe not as small as we think, some unhoused and many “crisis situation unhoused” have pets which they don’t want to abandon, yet many shelters won’t let them come inside. It’s not a priority, perhaps, but one that has been brought up before by advocates and activists.

The priest at Peter and Paul was adamant with me one day during a volunteer opportunity that transitional housing was the steppingstone preventing him from helping more. And also, that neighborhoods, even around Soulard, frowned on any new housing.
