In a sense I'd be amused to see the flack he would cop if he tried to make posts supportive of "The Liberal Party" considering how few people on X can see beyond the name of it.
It's pretty clear who he'll support here in Australia. Or anywhere. Anything so far to the right that it can be considered a Nazi and the drugged up space boy will endorse it. Because it gives him all the attention he needs. Pathetic sad mofo.
It won't matter who gets in...we need the resources for security. We can all pretend one party will be better than the other for climate but there will be little difference.
For now, we are currently the world's biggest producer of lithium, so everyone gets their lithium from us. But Chile has much bigger reserves of lithium and cheaper labour. Argentina also has bigger reserves than us, likely he'll try to overthrow Chile or cut a deal w/ Milei at some point in future.
Actually I think this chart maybe wrong in regards to Argentina, but Chile by far and away still has the world's largest reserves. So, would expect him to have greater interest in their politics.
Australian and Chilean lithium is in different forms. The stuff in Chile is mostly brine, a long and slow process to extract. The Australian lithium is in pegmatites, quicker to extract but more energy intensive. Lot of work being done to make it less energy intensive, though.
For sure, but I mean Tesla is already preparing to move into Chile as we speak. So, their dependence of Oz lithium isn't gonna be lasting too much longer.
I doubt they make up a big fraction of our lithium exports anyway, considering how well the Chinese are doing at EV production. I'll admit I'm mostly focused on the technical/processing side of things though.
Word, agreed. The OP was about who dude would back regarding the election though. So, I was talking from the perspective of what would be in it for Musk as opposed to what's in it for us.
The only reason I can think of that he might care about our politics is possibly the Future Made in Australia.
And it cutting into his battery sales and stuff. That said, honestly, idek if he even really gives a fuck about Tesla, anymore. Seems to have moved on to Space X and AI.
Tesla has no direct offtake agreements with any operating mine. Tesla buys batteries from Panasonic and CATL, who buy their anodes from speciality manufacturers, who purchase lithium chemicals from Ganfeng, Tianqi, SQM, Albermarle etc.
But yeah ASPI Advance and Aukus pushing for more from us while US tariffs eat the arse out of steel and aluminium. https://aukusforum.com/opportunities-1
Interesting to see Chile (who Trump will have offended somehow) has a much larger reserve of Lithium but produces less.
Once RFK Jnr hears about Lithium imports, heβll stop them. Heβll claim they feed a crisis of misdiagnosed manic depression, or at least, thatβs what the brain worm says.
Iβve been saying: now heβs into all the US computer systems, how long before, via the 5-Eyes @ Pine Gap, is it before heβs into all ours, under the pretext of hunting terrorists and fraud?

& I expect, Musk will be more interested in politics there than here. Due to the ability to get a better deal https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/tesla-roll-into-south-america-with-first-steps-chile-2023-11-09/
