this is still agonizingly painful to me, Twitter had the _best_ culture of any place I've ever worked at.

there were definitely some outliers (cough cough former Periscope team) but I've never seen a tech employer with a culture like that, either before or after.

We have all had jobs that where the cultures were blown up by corporate raiders, acquisitions, mergers or plans to do those things. It is an American story for sure. I don’t say this to imply “get over it”. You never do but you have to reach a point of moving on that you control.

Their first targets were atheism and gaming between 2012 and 2015. Those were the most successful cultures coming out of the 2000s so they were the tested. Divide and conquer.

I hope this isn't inevitable. As a former USAID staffer whose father worked there for 30+ years, the agency is filled with dedicated civil servants, humanitarians who want to save and improve lives. Hope folks hold on to that thru the dark times ahead ♥️

OMG this. I’ve never been a fed, but I worked many years with various agencies as my customer. I developed a lot of respect for most of the people I met. Plus my FIL was a diligent civil servant giving his best at Social Security and HHS. The past 48 hours have been so alarming, infuriating and sad
