🙋 The VA's examiner literally fell asleep during my VA evaluation. She then documented that nothing happened to me. She wasn't there! I provided painful details, dates, locations & names. I filed a congressional complaint & asked if they needed the DNA results. The VA launched an investigation.

Oh. And 23andme showed me the woman who seemed too have forgotten that I wasn't interested in sexually? The one I had awoken from my passed out drunken state? As friends only? That was on top of me? I have a son from this unwanted act. It was real hard wording my response to his message too me.

I learned years later, due too 23andme, that not only do I have a biological 1/2 sister. But she is from rape of a child. And my real dad is not whom I Cleary was told was my dad. But his brother. While writing my memoir. My bio dad is a major pedo and rapist. Free. Once again. 🙃 Crazy crazy

Appeal it. Also, if you are able to afford it, perhaps an independent evaluation by a licensed professional. They try very much to deny MST claims because of the typical victim blaming/shaming & bad childhood excuse. Writing a trusted congressperson may help, too.

This evaluation was shortly b4 the #metoo movement. I as of today filed with CID looking for the report. As the article 15 they gave me doesn't mention anything about the initial reported issue. Just the punishment.

It's hard to wrap my head around since my Army unit was 100% male. We had 2 guys rob and rape a taxi driver in Germany. Other drivers put a beating on one of them, the MPs handled both with roughness, and the system sent them to prison for years. Shameful conduct was treated with shame.

I used to work at the VA and dealt with a lot of unwanted innuendos, stares, remarks and “flirting.” When I stood up for myself I was the problem and nothing was ever done. Some of the files I’ve seen….

As a navy veteran, I know multiple women that were sexually assaulted/harassed. I have lost memories from my own sexual assault on my first deployment. I’m currently struggling with submitting a claim to the VA, because I’m afraid it won’t matter because I’ve waited so long.

In my humble opinion, you should do it. They have ironed out the issues because people like me and others filed congressional inquiries, and investigations were done. They found a very large percent were not evaluated and rated correctly.

I lived being in the armed forces, and feel like it might have been a great career path for me, but she felt I should get out, although she said she was worried my grades might suffer (but I was a browner), and there's too many boys! True data. Not sure if the Canadian army is as dangerous

I followed my dad and grandpa into the navy out of family tradition. My dad begged me to join the Air Force, because he knew what female sailors were going through, and he didn’t want it to happen to me. I had to tell him it happened to me a couple months ago, and you could see his spirit crushed.

I'm sorry to hear that. I was on submarines before women were allowed on them. They slowly began integration when I was on shore duty from 2004 to 2008. Some of the horror stories I heard were sickening. I thought it was bad enough, single guys trying to hook up with "west pac widows".

I was in the same time- 03-09; it was only a year ago that someone validated my missing memory. I was discussing the attack with my friend from the ship, and she exclaimed “I WAS THERE! I saw you run!” I lost it. I couldn’t believe it was real. After that visit I told my parents what happened.

I was SA’d by 2 Air Force Airmen. Nothing happened. They asked what I was wearing. They blamed it on me for drinking alcohol. I had 1 drink. When I reported it, they threw out my urine and didn’t test it for substances. They didn’t test my kit until over 7 years later. One guy works with kids now.

They also punished me for underage drinking when I immediately reported being sexually assaulted in the barracks. And yet, I was a private. Being fed booze from a superior far older soldier whom was trying to take advantage of me once I was drunk. They excused his behavior for being drunk. #mst

I always say that I found the one good man in the Marines. He's the gentlest, kindest man I have ever met. Even after we made out for the first time and I passed out drunk, he took off my earrings, shoes, and fangs (it was Halloween) and safely put me to bed. We'll be married 3 years this October.

Seems like some people can't see past their own trauma. No one blames a victim for their experiences. Sometimes, they can't separate it from reality.

I sit at that VA too w/my 94-year old Dad, and I think about the many varying stories each man and woman have. My dad's story is a peaceful one with some funny highlights - he was a Coast Guardsman who mostly worked on navigation assignments.

I'm a u.s. army veteran, myself.
I know plenty of peers and women partners who were assaulted, and plenty of men who were assaulted.

we were all in danger.
we all went through terrible traumas together, and we should try to be more sympathetic
