my most conservative-coded trait these days is that i honestly think that the worst possible thing that can happen for young men is for the entire society to coddle them. what they need to hear is that they have one life to live and they have to take responsibility for it.

Everyone thinks they're exempt from aging until they do and then it's too late. The so-called senior 'lobbies" are really just affinity advertising and sales companies. They profit from pretending to be serious advocates who do a presentation every once in a while.

Male loneliness is a myth. It puts the blame on women for having high standards (Read: Boundaries), instead of on men not confronting aspects of themselves that are horrible. Women aren't to blame for why you're lonely, you haven't showered in three days.

Absolutely. The same men who want to focus on male loneliness like Temu versions of incels are typically the first to mockingly misquote statistics about single women being the most unhappy/on a lot of anti-anxiety meds or w.e demographic.

We need to talk about it because we need to realize it's the natural consequence of all this gender-based bullshit in society. We asked men to be more open emotionally and now everyone "has the ick" when emotionally intelligent men exist. That's just one small example.

A lot of people are socialized online and would rather say the r word than have friends.

I genuinely believe that the "male loneliness epidemic" would be solved if more dudes just went to therapy. Personally speaking, seeking therapy three years ago was the most positive life changing decision I had made in a long time.

Absolutely. Beyond those, if mental health care is not provided through your employer (as it is in my case), it's often so cost-prohibitive that's it's perpetually out of reach. 100% a problem that needs to be solved for.

From the time I was a child to just this past Christmas, I’ve been told to befriend or date a male because they need it. “It’d be so much better for his mental health.”

I do think that there is something to it, though, when it is still stigmatized to seek mental help. A lot of young people are lonely and depressed and have trouble knowing where to go for resources. I was in that position in my 20's. It wasn't until I was 32 that I finally got the right help.

I watch male colleagues and neighbours with kids act like another child for their wives to take care of. Their wives do a disproportionate amount of child care and cooking, and the men are also dependent on them for socializing.

And they're completely oblivious to it.

We need the return of real life social clubs. Places where people spent actual face to face time together that encourages social cohesion and tempering yourself to get along with others.

As a bonus they also volunteered in the community and encouraged political participation outside voting day.
