Unfortunately humans never look back at history to learn from mistakes. Countries once again become polorised and inward looking before yet another devasting war is started. After the war with millions dead they say never again... rinse and repeat.

I enjoyed hearing Angela Merkel's voice again (launching her memoirs) and always admired her approach of 'going slowly' and pragmatically. Many occasions require us to go faster, but I agree, much harder is going more slowly and purposefully for the right long-term outcomes.

I very much enjoyed reading Patriot, the memoir of Alexei Navalni. His story is truly inspiring and he will be remembered by most of the free world as having been on the right side of history. It also makes me feel lucky to live in a country that allows free speech & debate.

I am delighted that we are back and accelerating our path to clean power. I feel privileged to be asked to take a part in it, and will do my absolute best to create the most long-term societal value, including many great green jobs from this exciting (and not easy) journey.

Looking forward, it will remain challenging and tempting to believe that there are quick fixes to complex problems facing the world. But there aren't, and we progressive centrists need to stay the course, act long-term and in time, prove that our way provides better outcomes.

Good thoughts, Juergen. We have an opportunity in GB to shift the needle on clean power and need to keep laser focussed on that, which includes being clear sighted about the headwinds and managing risks to progress.
