conservatives have been vowing to end SS since it passed in 1935. They manage to bury it in the backyard this time it'll make their celebrations over Dobbs look positively tepid. They have their dream setup with the SCOTUS and total control - this is their moment and they're taking the shot.

I long since stopped trying to convince my folks of anything - they're a lost cause at this point. They've been hyper-conservative since the 70s but in the last 10 years they've become absolutely unhinged watching Fox and Newsmax. I expect they'll ask me for help when the time comes - sorry, nope.
