I like Kat, but why is she running against Jan Schakowsky? yeah, she's up there in years, but she makes frequent appearances in the district and has a very responsive office team.

Candidates for the House must live in the district they wish to represent. You don't just "choose" where to run, unless you're willing to uproot your life and move. And then what message does that send to the people in the "new" district. "I'm only living here because I want to be elected?"
So, long before the utter collapse of the Democratic party that should be opposing Trump, but largely isn't. If she had moved there much more recently, I'd say you might have a point.
my mom is 90 and is mentally sharp enough to be a representative
should my mom be in Congress? no. she doesn't have the energy.
is someone who's 80, has the mental skills for the job, AND REMEMBERS HOW MUCH THE NEW DEAL DID FOR WORKING PEOPLE be in Congress?
Tnx for the info. I don't know either one, I am in NC. But I am sick to death of the Dems Ole Folks Home in the Capitol. I say let the younger set run this country, I trust them. There is no way they can be worse than Schumer. I am pondering sending Kat a donation. Who r other youngs in ur state?

as I keep saying, I like her work. I don't see her as a good fit for the area. still, it'll make a more interesting primary than usual.

maybe. that memory is important.
She's been in office since 1999, I think if she was going to co-author the second version of the New Deal she would have done so by now.
I'm tired of gerontocracy, too, but she's always a progressive vote and she's still doing her job well.
there are worse dinosaurs to run against.
