When I finished my spaghetti dinner at the Olive Garden, I completed the survey giving high marks. In the comments, I wrote, "Super server. Pay him a living wage." I left him $10 tip on a $17.89 meal.

That's awesome!
Patronizing local mom and pop establishments is also a really good way to help neighbors.
Just another way to do good.
But that was really nice of you.
i was just about to say, all my friends in CA who are waitresses make more money than anyone I know and it's just at little hole in the wall breakfast diner type places, nothing fancy. I made more money serving than most other jobs. Servers are not struggling. You can make like $100 an hour!
We're doing cremation without services. Her classmates will do a memorial when they have their all school reunion later in the year. Charlotte's sister Carol Ann Fink died October 11th. Carol Ann lived in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Oh, Stevie! I’m so very sorry. I had no idea. My heart breaks for you. May Charlotte’s memory be a blessing and may she rest in peace. My sincere condolences..
Love what you did! My husband and I have been tipping a minimum of %35 or more in restaurants where they are short staffed and running their asses off! It’s the least we can do since every place pays shit where we live.
Tipping in US is mad! When you go to a restaurant, you expect to be served and pay an option gratuity for service over what was expected.
If everyone stopped tipping, restaurants WOULD start paying their staff what was necessary, but currently, they expect you to pay their staffs wages directly!
Yes, it used to be. You left a tip for someone who went above and beyond the normal.
then somewhere it became us paying part of their wage regardless of the service you get.
most of those them probably deserve the tip because of the not so nice people that they end up having to deal with
Thank you. I've really wanted spaghetti for weeks, and Mazzio's and I came to an agreement to not see each other, so Luigi's is all there is. We just didn't like their sauce. I had business in Tulsa, so I used the opportunity for spaghetti. Thank you.

It's a good habit

In a lot of states tips first pay the servers wage instead of the owner paying.
Leave a tip if you agree
For Pete's sake. 🙄
