That’s a neat idea. I’m glad Kickstarter has some AI disclosure but I definitely feel like it could be better.

Agreed. And it hopes publishers admit to using it. With such negativity seen towards AI art, I have a feeling many of them will try to keep it secret.

The source inspiration (I know you didn't write) of "no AI or machine generated" is too vague: ai is a meaningless buzzword (lots of differing ai techniques that aren't just plagiarism machines) and things like Photoshop blend filters would easily fall under machine generated.

also, i think if 'art' as an umbrella term. like a creative object. There are paintings and games and poems and books and music and so on. They're all 'art'. it's not just a visual medium. I think listing out every single art practice is not in the best interest of the icon's page.

Can you give an example of what you'd say?

The intent is for the layman to understand the uses.
The designers / publishers actually putting it on products understand the intentions. Not using both AI or machine generated for an icon meant to show a work is neither of those.... seems impossible.

The disclosure expectations should go in the other direction, but since we don't have a widely used icon opposite of "cruelty-free," I don't know why I'd expect that here.

I think these things can go either way. I prefer this 'positive' approach. 'made by humans' vs 'No AI Art'. the negative approach is fine, and some people probably prefer that, but i think the positive approach is a better representation. defining things by what they are, not by what they aren't.

I was unclear. AI use should be expected to be positively ID'd, but there is no mechanism to enforce that and the incentives generally run against it, so labeling the default is what we are left with. I do like "made by humans" as a positive statement.

Oh! I think I agree. Would be nice if 'human made' stayed the default. I think so far, most sites that label ai, make it optional. :( or self reported (and thus optional and under reported) KS should have an AI badge & put it on a project's cover. Ai notice up top not the bottom of a page.
