Fun fact: Konami DO have a rule for not being a dick (ie respect people's pronouns), with the punishment of getting anywhere between game and match losses to full-on DQ's and likely be asked to leave the venue for the rest of the day

But I'm not trying to take anything away from that store...

There's also a rule about not being smelly; if your body odor can be smelt and is very bad, you may be asked to leave for the rest of the day (making people practise good hygiene)

It's a very rare thing to see enforced but it's something that's needed to be added in

Them being open about the respecting of pronouns is fucking amazing, it's something that is rarely announced before tournaments start (it's been a tournament rule for a few years, and you can imagine the unfunny clapback and attempted worming around it)

While they didn't specify if it was Konami tournament rules or that store's tournament rules, they were VERY clear that if someone gave their pronouns at the beginning of the round, those MUST be respected. If it was reported that they weren't, there was one warning, then the offender gets kicked.

I wanted to walk up to the staff and tell them how awesome I thought it was that they were so strict when it comes to inclusion (you know, something that our current President is actively trying to dismantle, which is mind-blowing) but they were super busy, and I never got the time.

The LGS was Curio Cavern in the Northern Virginia area. They have four locations, and this was at the Springfield Mall spot. The staff are always awesome and I'm very proud to support their business every chance I get <3
