Apple TV SE. No frills, no games, just streaming. Would work if kept near the price of a Google TV. I have three Apple TV boxes in the house but I got a cheap Onn Google TV stick for my kids room so they don’t mess with the box itself. A stick solves that.

The success of Amazon and Roku sticks shows the demand for low-cost access to media and content to the point consumers put up with ad-ridden platforms.

If Apple comes out with a lower entry cost offer to the market not plagued with ads they will gain huge market share IMO.

I would love to see an overhaul of TVos, it’s a great simple interface, but I would love to see some API’s and frameworks that would make devs want to make apps for it (other than streaming)

I can’t see this ever happening. The profit margins just aren’t there. Apple TV is on almost every device going so they can get the subs through any TV or streaming stick.

For the smart home, the sub-$100 HomePod Mini can serve as a hub (or the iPad lots already own).

I have my entire movie library stored with Apple. It shouldn't require an Apple TV or stick, just an app on the TV and a phone. They also need to improve the user experience. The simplicity and flow and access to what you want to watch have become much worse over the years.

Maybe they could go one better - instead of an unnecessarily compromised stick form factor, they could use the fact that TVs aren’t portable and always stay in one place to bump up the specs a bit and put it in a slightly larger box that just connects with an HDMI cable 😜

Probably 2/3 of folks I talk to think you can only watch AppleTV+ on Apple hardware. May as well meet customers where they’re at *and* provide them a superior experience to the other TV sticks out there.

I really, really detest such an approach and I think it's just going to be even more confusing for the end users if they go that route. Plus, a stick just feels... wrong.

IMO, Apple should stop nerfing the capabilities of TV 4K and allow for web browsers and more things that it is clearly capable of.

It could still introduce an entry level Apple TV but I still don't think they can price it in such a way to beat the current sticks/cheapo Android devices.

Gaming is also something they should seriously pursue and bring on as a massive value add which could tempt more people to pick it up. But IDK if they can do that while keeping the prices low at this point.
