Iβve actually responded with something along those lines out loud a few times when they ask any the wrong time. Once a staff tried to take my cart from self checkout because I had a few too many items, there was NO line. No one waiting. Snatched my cart back and said NOT TODAY SATAN
Morning RR. I know right, what is this. I have been asked this at a number of stores. I give direct to the people I want to support. Hope you have a terrific Thursday ππβββπ«β€οΈ
Just had a little conversation about the same at a chain store. Me: "No. please tell your CEO or shareholders to make the contribution from their bank accounts and stop bugging us, the people who pay their salaries and dividends!"
On the supermarket topicβ¦decided to shout myself Old Gold block of choc - weekly treat out of pension. $4.40 a week ago. Today? $8.65! Canβt buy!π’
Totally feel that! Itβs like theyβre trying to outsource basic decency while squeezing every cent out of us. If they really cared, theyβd match donations or just donate themselves, no guilt trip needed at checkout!
Exactly. Give a donation of non perishable food to your local self help food bank. Then you know 100% of your donation is going right where it needs to be.
The correct answer is yes Iβd like to donate and I would like a receipt that shows that I have made the donation rather than I give you a dollar and you guys get the tax benefit of making a donation
Absolutely! I've quit doing this too, since I doubt every penny and these corporations need to first give their employees a raise and make those donations with their own profit!
Walmart does the same thing, I tell them back β Do you think I would shop here if I had those few extra dollars youβre asking me forβ? All though itβs alright now, I refuse to shop at Walmart, those assholes treat their customers like shit and their employees even worse.
Everywhere you go, 'would you like to round that up for charity' or 'would you like to make a donation'. All so they can say they support a charity. No, the customers are supporting the charity.
They have the same thing in the UK. A food bank box where they want you to buy food in their shop and donate it so they look good. Really boils my piss.
One time a year I give to 12 charities a year that have touched me or my family or community members the most. Iβve done my research. I do not feel obligated to give to stores who try to shame people, or people on the street wanting me to pay for their relatives funeral expenses.

Nope, I choose my charities wisely.
