As a fat person IRL who rarely makes fat OCs I’ll be the one to say that just because someone’s OC isn’t fat doesn’t mean the person behind the OC can’t join meaningful conversations regarding fatphobia if they are fat IRL.
An OC’s appearance does not diminish lived struggles.

Yet I've had friends tell me that I'm beautiful by the standards of Ancient Greece and it is cold comfort. And seeing how beauty standards have changed-
This thread got me to look up Rue and... that's a very fit body to me. Even with the stretchmarks, which happens to nearly every afab body!
It's one thing to support folks who
Yes! Fat people are hot! We are! But we're also other things too, like people worthy of respect and consideration.
Oh my god I really hope I never have to see a comment like that for reals. It might just kill me. The most I've ever given my oc's has been chronic pain, because my life is such a general misery I have no desire to replicate it in something that's meant to make me happy just for "representation"
also agreed on rue it can be turned truly fat with c+ but I saw it and was like “oh I would consider myself thin if I looked like this”
If she’s gigantic, then I’m unsure of what I am, but I refuse to denigrate myself for them.
and despite wanting to look a certain way, the fact of the matter is if this health issue wasn’t caught I wouldn’t be able to help it, and society is an ass abt that!
Imagine how that makes actual fat people feel.
Like, Rue is a normal ass body.
And seeing people call that "gigantic" kills me inside as a woman whose got a MUCH larger belly than that.
Especially since the only time people love "fat" women is if they still fit a stereotypical feminine look
And usually most people don't even bother putting in a large belly.
It happens to fat people. It happens to people of color. It happens to cultures of color. If it’s not made palatable, it’s not to be seen or consumed.
