Ask the RCAF what planes they want, not the politicians or bureaucrats. Gripens don’t have the range, payload or stealth. They are just new planes built with old technology.

Bad idea. In terms of pure interoperability between allies there are additional regional benefits with the potential to contribute over $425 million annually to Canada's GDP and create nearly 3,300 high paying technical jobs, not including those related to upgrading the bases that will house them.

We should go ahead and cancel the F-35 as its basically a poor excuse for an aircraft. We known the Gripen is widely used in Europe and is very serviceable. Besides, we don't know if the disunited states would support it or maybe install malware in it. Can't trust the disunited states anymore! 🇨🇦

Gripen is cheaper in fuel,easier to maintain with a crew of 6 to refuel and rearm.It can take off from any highway in arctic conditions and can carry any NATO-standard missiles.It also has a superior Radar for its class.

The Gripen uses American made engines. The US recently stopped Colombia from buying Gripens for this reason. I don't see the Swedish plane being a wiser deal strategically. I think the 2-engined French Rafael jet is the best bet.

You can encrypt and obfuscate things these days so they're basically undetectable. And they're not going to give out full specs to anything like that, cancelling it is the only option. You don't buy this kind of tech from anyone you can't fully trust to be on your side if shit hits the fan.

F-35 range 2200km Mach 1.6 // CF-18 3300km Mach 1.8 // Gripen 3200km Mach 2. That balloon that traversed our air space? No way F-35 chugging along would have got there. The YF-22 2960km at Mach 2.2 did. Gripen would allow us to manage our air space better with waaaay better fuel economy. It's nuts

The Gripen uses GE engines, providing US some control over them. I suspect this is why no Gripens have been provided to Ukraine. Unless Saab finds an alternative, the Rafale would be safer.
