We were 57 and 58 when we did the West Coast Trail. We did condition ourselves with packs and a dry run camp out. We wished we had practiced on rougher ground, crossing logs, and climbing ladders. Regardless, it was great.

Thank you! Great advice. We will be 51 & 56 and we are also planning a 2 day dry run before to iron out how to use gear and see how the body feels trekking back to back days. Maybe we can set up our own ladder to train on.

For water, we recommend a gravity filtration system like Platypus, not a hand pump, and a jet boil for cooking.
