I've been obsessively buying and squirreling away "subversive" books for weeks. It's a weird way to cope with panic and impending doom, but there you have it.
I read that 30 years ago, right after Pastures of Heaven, which I loved so much that I decided I didn't need to read anymore Steinbeck. However, I missed East of Eden back then, so I've always wanted to read that. Maybe I'll put Winter back on the list for a reread - perhaps I gave it short shrift.
Well yeah, but also I hadn't read any Toni Morrison. There's a lot I need more of. Next big one for me is another Octavia E. Butler! Still reading three books atn though...
