Ever since owning the eReader as a kid I've been obsessed with this kinda tinkering! Steamdeck is DUMMY compatible and it's been so fun finding a million uses for it, both helpful and superfluous! I was playing Kirby airride with the giant buttons of this thing recently
I know that this sensor *does* work on the deck in like dolphin and things, but yeah, I have no idea if I could then bind it to the mouse enough to navigate a desktop.
You can, you just need a wayland/x11 input package and configuration to enable it. Eg. the xf86-input-xwiimote package should enable gyro and sensor bar mouse emulation on X11
I wonder how you'd go about making the pointer work as mouse input, I'm sure it's doable and that would be really fun for a lot of traditional keyboard and mouse stuff like strategy games
Yeah although they use a slightly modified protocol so they need a driver to work properly. One is baked directly into the Linux kernel however so the steam deck gets to just do that without any issues.

Was the wiimote just connected via Bluetooth or some dongle of some kind?
Would love to use Wiimote + Nunchuk in more games...
Watch media on the deck using a guitar controller or something 😅
