I felt this about 4 years ago when I saw the play. Also how people were convinced to fear and treat others because they looked different. Rumors a lies about them.
Evil not Wicked.
I have been changed.
My hero is the green one.ππ
The best thing about this Wicked isn't the singing/music it is the line about the best way to bring the people together is give them a common enemy.
Now who is the real enemy is my question π€π€¨
A wicked (no pun intended) and degenerate orange man has been elected again. His immorality has been embraced by many. This world has become twisted. God save us.
The original Broadway release coincided with Bush's War on Terror, and was influenced by that period of time. The whole "uniting people with a scapegoat" and a leader maintaining power through giving people an enemy to focus on.
They should just engrave Cynthia Erivo's name on the Oscar now. She was incredible. It wasn't just about a man gaslighting folks, it was about so much more... like one of the 92 percent looking out for everyone, meanwhile, the 53 percent was looking out for herself.
Have you read any of the declarations of secession? Every single state that seceded mentioned slavery as a reason for it. The flag in your picture (which likely isn't even a flag they flew) represents the Confederacy, which (by their declarations) was inherently racist and pro-slavery.
I was born in 1980. I'm not here to defend slavery. Furthermore, I'm not here to debate something that happened over 100 years before I was born. Let us talk about the fact that YOUR party is trying to start another world war right here and now. Or your party supporting terrorist groups?
If I understand you correctly, you're going to make the claim that the Democrats today are the same people who supported slavery. Then when I clarified that the people who gladly carry a symbol of slavery today vote Republican, you want to change the topic?
Tell me youβre uneducated without telling me youβre uneducated. Google is free. Here Iβll give you the phrase to look up βUS party realignmentβ.
Elphaba as activist heroine made getting through all the history of names in the first section of the book worth it. Most political book Iβd read since getting a poli sci degree when I read it.
It took me 9 months to get through the book for some reason but felt compelled to keep reading. It was worth it and glad I did before watching the play. Seeing the movie this weekend
I legitimately didn't know it had been a book. I knew of the musical and obviously now the film, but it completely escaped my attention that it had come from a book. To the library! And thank you!
And then her villain act started
And I don't think Kamala has any guts honestly. I watched some of the speeches. I left halfway through, it was depressing honestly. No clue what she was trying to do
At least the toxic makeup changed since 1939. They didn't have 30 minutes of Ray Bolger dance to cut. Aunt Em could have made some biscuits, cause there's no place like home, Judy.

There's a pretty good origin story about The Wizard you should walk.
