My sense is that there are two issues- is climate change real, and are people causing it. More people are willing to admit that the climate is change ("it's natural and always happens") than are willing to admit we are causing it ("cows have always farted and the world is too big for us to change").
I'm no conspiracy theorist, but it's interesting that in the past 24 hours we've had fires in some very wealthy areas of SoCal -- Pacific Palisades (big celebrities), Hollywood Hills (celebrities), Studio City (entertainment industry people), and Altadena (lots of screenwriters).
Estimate I’m hearing is nearly $60 Billion in property losses. Cali was already having issues with insuring fire prone areas. This will decimate insurance coverage in that area, and it all flows downhill where literally everyone who owns property will have reinsurance premium increases nationally.
Looks like the opening to an apocalyptic dark fantasy wherein the populace is enslaved by a few wealthy corporations and no one is happy because their quality of life only gets worse by the day.
