What an amazing piece of life-affirming, humane, compassionate good news!

Officially scrapping the Rwanda scheme is a triumph for human dignity, compassion, and justice. No country as repressive as Rwanda can be considered safe. And no country should farm out its responsibilities to genuine asylum claimants to a third country.

Genuine question: can a Christian also be a Humanist? Cos I think I'm both!
Committed Christian since I was 14, by my own choice, not family. I'll argue my corner on that with anyone.
But committed to freedom of belief - including for those I disagree with.

Most humanists are either atheist or agnostic. But I have heard some people describe themselves as “Christian humanists” too, though not sure if that’s outdated. But in the end what matters is the way we treat each other and I think the principles of compassion & kindness are pretty universal

Indeed, about the Tory approach as a desperate attempt to appease voters. I do feel for Rwanda though, she as a country is simply trying to pick up the pieces from genocide. People are people, they just wanted to get by in life. It's the regimes that are the problem.
