I have just received this diagnosis a few weeks after autism and already social services are assuming bad things about me in regards to my son. I don’t think I can cope with the stigma of autism and BPD.

My best friend has BPD. In her own words, it’s an incredibly challenging existence, but it’s never changed how much I have always cared about and supported her. She’s very easy to love, from my perspective.

Self-stigmatisation is also problematic for those diagnosed with BPD. I have a friend who completely fell apart after the diagnosis because of how negative the perceptions of it are within the medical community. Knowing how to support someone to stay positive after diagnosis is a real help...

This article is dated 2021, and I can't read it behind a paywall, and I don't really care to as it starts with identifying BPD as a burden others must bear.

I've been fortunate to access kind, respectful, and educated care around BPD and it's resulted in help vs writing me off as manipulative.

Thankful that you found the care that you need and is so rare when it comes to BPD.I have been fortunate as well when it comes to this.I have been diagnosed w/ BPD and bipolar and my psychotherapist is so willing to meet me where I am at and care for me.I read that pdocs hate this combo.It broke me

I have that combo and it really isn't mentioned beyond that. My therapist wonders why I even bring up common traits in BPD, and I say knowing a bit helps me see it, and he says, okay. And then we're back to talking.

Same. My psychotherapist and I don't talk about diagnosis or labels much. (Unless I bring it up.) We talk. I just meant I have read of other mental health providers hating that combo or refusing to treat them b/c it's too challenging and when I first read that it devastated me. My doc is 👍.Thankful

It's a good way to have it. And I agree that it's a "bad combo" if people are hung up on diagnosis, but otherwise not some horrid combo to treat.
