My favorite thing about watching everyone deactivating their accounts is knowing people who built their entire twitter-exclusive platforms entirely on being hateful and bullying are losing engagement, some quickly, some more over time. Like yes, burn, burn it all!
I’ll do that, see where else I can find them and if they’re truly not anywhere else (not Ko-fi, or Patreon, or even IG), I’ll let them go. I didn’t think about what their persistent attachment to Twitter, and its levels of toxic sludge, says without saying a word.
Both! I commission art and buy a lot of fan merch, and some of the artists only have X as their social media. I’d guess they have a large following there and worry about starting all over on a different platform
i'd be interested to see what'd happen if folks like you moved your support from twitter to the other platforms, and basically urged the others to migrate with your eyeballs. Twitter has become irredeemably toxic, and will only continue to be so.
You’re not wrong. Twitter is dangerous and I’ve blocked thousands of accounts and still see endless trolling from MAGATs. I’ll try to put more of my funds into artists on here, and most likely just by going there less, I’ll get bored of having an account at all and delete it
You’re right. I only lurk once in a while at this point and I never post anymore. I hate losing some people but I’ll try guiding them over here and insta, but if they don’t go, que sera sera. There are definitely new connections to be made. The thought is very inspiring. Thanks my friend. 👍
I don't plan on participating over there anymore, but that site does contain years and years worth of my thoughts, my art, my friendships, my life, etc.
I'm thinking of setting it as private and walking away. Is that not a good option? (Honest question)
I empathize, i lived a lot of my life there for 15yrs. A lot I created has been lost. Walking away > nothing, but i worry about what Elon will do with your thoughts, art, friendships, and life without your permission.
Talk to folks who've deleted. You might be surprised how little we miss it.
I have severe memory problems. No clue what most of my childhood was like. And a lot of my teens. And some of my adulthood. Not sure why, medically/psychologically speaking.
I hate it.
But yeah, if I could find a way to at least keep a copy, that would be less scary.
That is INCREDIBLY comforting, considering my swiss cheese memory 💜
Really hope I can build the same kind of community over here. I made a LOT of friends there, met my wife there. In-person social engagement can be... a lot. Blame it on the ASD, baby 😅
One big issue I've run into with deleting Twitter/X is losing access to Japanese and other internationally-based 'Hazbin Hotel' fans who use the platform. Japan has 69.28 million Twitter/X users, making it the #2 country after the United States. The site is popular in India, Indonesia, the UK, etc.
i know! But we have to ask what the meaning of this "access" really is. What is that getting us, truly? If it's paying your bills, then shit dude, pay your bills. But if it's not, what are you doing?
I will add that there has been a shift from Twitter/X to Bluesky among Japanese users, but it has been slower than U.S.-based users: "While X remains dominant in Japan, its daily active Android users dropped from 7.4 million to 6.7 million over the past year."
From what I've seen, Japanese fan artists use Twitter/X because it is the biggest international text-based platform, vs. just image-based, by which they can advertise paid art commissions to a wider international audience. (I don't use Instagram, TikTok, etc.)
Done… gonna be honest wasn’t easy (because of the memories) but I think I’ll be happy with my decision in the long run… and I can make more memories here ❤️
I don’t know my password and I am not talking to my desktop computer at the moment. So no. It will languish and fade like the irrelevant little thing it always was.
I asked at the beginning of December if they had another place i could contact them and what their other platforms were. They said don't open those apps and that crapapp is the best way to keep in touch 😭
I agree. I also commissioned back in sept. But I understand life happens and things happen so Im not ready to give up on it yet.
But once it's finished it's bye-bye.
I completely understand. It sucks that the place that literally is the most toxic is the best way for people to communicate and get commissioned. Bsky is so much smaller and it hurts to see tbh 💔
This place is much nicer anyway. The feeling of being able to be yourself without random clowns coming to post toxic nonsense and the other platform "not able to find anything wrong with it" when you report it
i relate. I did too. I'm not suggesting you do it without forethought. But create an offramp if you need to. Follow people on the other platforms. Encourage those who haven't to create new accounts. Make it so once you delete, you'll have less to miss over there.
I mean, most of my friends follow me on other sights, like this one or discord or instagram and shit like that but i guess theres that sense of calm w twitter because ive constantly used it when things got rough and ive had some of the best moments on there if that makes sense
Is it still the twitter u got addicted to? I went on it less and less because it lost its spark, then went today, after 2 months, and it is just a snake pit. Having heard of Truth social, looks the same. Musk must also be selecting the replies on his posts - or most decent people have left 🤣
I did. Sucked because of my connections built that were valuable. Very toxic platform. Didn’t recognize my own feed. Trusting it will be back over time.
Deleted my Twitter account when that weird guy took over. The guy that wants you to fuck yourself in the face then asks for more positive content. Weird.
I mean…I get what ur trying to say but I don’t rlly want to. There are loads of accounts that I follow who are not on bluesky or just don’t/haven’t posted on blue sky, and I also rely on twitter when it comes to keeping up with the media I like and fandom related stuff. It may just be rlly simple+
For other ppl, which I’m happy for them, but not for others. Especially since I lost access to my OG twitter account earlier last year and am trying to rebuild on a new acc I made brick by brick. If I had deleted figure I would never be able to find out about future Fullmetal alchemist merch/collabs
Not to mention for other artists it’s also not that easy either especially for work. I do want ppl to join bluesky but I’m not liking this new wave of ppl looking down on others for staying on twitter or saying it’s “super duper easy” to just delete an account that has so many memories/connections
The site is compromised. My take is to do it while it's still your choice, rather than have the choice fully made for you. Nobody is coming to save Twitter. Right now it's you, MAGA, and a few niche creators who refuse to give up their following for something as trivial as ethics.
If we delete it do our tweets get deleted? I want to keep some old ones jic but I also want to shut it down. It's very hard to find the ones I want though lol
Okay so I’ve been avoiding it because there were stories I wanted to see finished by artists who didn’t make the move… but….. (and only had a minor anxiety/ crying episode over not knowing how those end)
As shit as that site has become, I don't wanna leave it because my following on there is way more significant than on here, and I don't wanna build it from the ground up again. Like I even shouldn't have to, I told my followers multiple times I'm on BlueSky but not even a third of them refollowed 💀
That was the signal that no following, however large it may be, was worth the massive exposure to harassment and misinformation going on kver there. If you can tolerate that, that's fine. Just bear in mind that there is no shame in moving if your mental health is in the line.
It doesn't have to be a full on transition. I approached it very softly, alternating between the two platforms. It was only after THAT event and several of the notable people I followed there left that I made the full jump.
Hopefully some of your followers have accounts here. I know it’s hard and a pain to start over but sometimes it’s for the best. Gives a chance for a fresh new start 😇😌🥰
I lost my login to twitter long ago plus i never really liked it the whole platform on posting onthere was confusing to me :( so i just stick to insta, deviantart, facebook and bluesky and discord
If you have no connections anywhere else, dont delete your twitter. But if you wait til every one of your connections there exists elsewhere also, you'll be there forever. We have to trust that we can make new connections. We can and we will. On other platforms, and most importantly, *IRL*.
if your connections there are that important to you, get them to meet you somewhere else. i wouldnt stay in a burning building just because a mutual didnt want to leave behind a piece of paper with a big number on it. you can make new connections somewhere safe
Making the offer: Amiricans around the Twin Cities area can summon this Fandom Elder, should you need one (1) emergency IRL meal at some point
I'm not online much, & am more of a Grunkle Stan type figure than an actual mentor, but sneak in the password "fellow Amirican" somewhere, & you're golden
But yeah: it's ESPECIALLY important for people with large followings like you, Viv, Sam, ect to leave that hellsite cause you bring your followings with you & give one less reason to stay
I've been telling ppl they NEED to start building their communities up here even if they don't get much engagement bcus Twitter IS on its way out and we see it more with every false start. So many people are missing a golden opportunity to help feed the hungry ppl on bsky who don't want to deal with
I was just thinking that it seems people are missing a potentially heavily highlighted entry point to be an early adapter in their personal niches on a platform with a substantial user base. It’s an even greater boon to business if you sort out best methods of organic growth here before others do.
You put it much more eloquently than I ever have but exactly!! There is a huge benefit to being the first in a rapidly growing arena even tho it may feel like diminishing returns in the beginning
It may only be a matter of time when that happens. Viv already no longer feels safe on Twitter since that scandal HH season 2 being leaked. One can only hope but at least we can stay updated of any news regarding HB on YouTube Shorts 😊

go through the artists on there and find their alternate websites, instagrams or something. If you peace out they're likely to leave too
See the dilemma.
I don't plan on participating over there anymore, but that site does contain years and years worth of my thoughts, my art, my friendships, my life, etc.
I'm thinking of setting it as private and walking away. Is that not a good option? (Honest question)
Talk to folks who've deleted. You might be surprised how little we miss it.
Soooooo probably deletion is best, considering all the unconscionable overreach Elon wants to enact.
There's a way to download my whole Twitter history, right?
I hate it.
But yeah, if I could find a way to at least keep a copy, that would be less scary.
Yes, downloading is 100% an option pre-deletion.
Really hope I can build the same kind of community over here. I made a LOT of friends there, met my wife there. In-person social engagement can be... a lot. Blame it on the ASD, baby 😅
Just vaporize it and reduce it to atoms

Grok 🤮
Twitter X is dead.
Bluesky is the heavenly dawn of a new age. A fresh start of new beginnings. And hopefully, haven of sanctuary and peace
But once it's finished it's bye-bye.
Which is why I HAVE AN EMAIL. It takes like 5 minutes to make an account solely for commission communication
I don't get why so many people insist on solely using social media messaging for literally everything
And ultimately, we all need to spend more time connecting IRL anyway!
what is the point of preserving tweets you cant locate?
YOU CAN TAKE MY TECHNICOLORED FURRIES FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS
I'm not online much, & am more of a Grunkle Stan type figure than an actual mentor, but sneak in the password "fellow Amirican" somewhere, & you're golden
Do try to sweeten the deal a little
This is the worst day of my life. I hate this.
"You" are most likely someone else's reason to stay: a connection they don't want to lose
+ Most people HATE Twitter: So it's entirely possible everyone you know ALSO wants to leave but is waiting for you to leave first (lol)
But yeah: it's ESPECIALLY important for people with large followings like you, Viv, Sam, ect to leave that hellsite cause you bring your followings with you & give one less reason to stay
I feel you, lololol. I sometimes sound really cold & calculated when I talk about stuff like this
Do I get a cookie?
i mostly use it for fic advertisement and advertising my etsy shop
and the handful of people who are still on there
