Yes, it's wonderful when subjects will do that, but it takes an artist to recognize a great shot, so kudos! Where did you take this? I've only seen these cranes in the wild once, at Bosque del Apache. It was great to see all the birds, but at the end of the crane spring migration, so few there then.
This was taken in my home town of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The cranes gather along the South Saskatchewan River valley in huge numbers in the fall. It's common to see groups of hundreds or thousands, but almost always from a distance

We're doing great! After our disastetous election, we went into hiding. NO TV NEWS (They all lied to us) & our stress levels have plummeted.
Squawky is still comming around. Hes very old for a *wild* pheasant. But he has advantages others don't.
