In the coming weeks, a lot of slow-on-the uptake folks are going to begin belatedly realizing Trump is both an inept moron and a dangerous autocrat. Our great civic challenge in these trying times will be calmly welcoming them aboard instead of primal-screaming in their faces.

I get it. We're right. They're wrong. They caused huge damage.
But the immediate political task we face is not creating (or even cheering) rough karmic justice, but rather saving the country.
For example: It's taken me years
to accept that Bill Kristol, who has done enormous damage to the country and the world and
who absolutely helped pave the way for Trump now understands the danger we're in and, for
the first time in his life, is on the right side.
